We're looking at two venues right now, both would hold both the ceremony and reception and both have their pros and cons. For one of the venues, the ceremony and reception would take place in the same room, but the wedding coordinator said while staff turns over the room from ceremony to reception, guests need to leave for the hour. If we were to rent out the second (smaller) room for the hour it would actually push us over budget, they don't rent it by the hour, we'd have it for the same length of time as the room we want for the ceremony and reception. Originally we anticipated a cocktail hour while we (with our wedding party and family) had pictures taken. There is a restaurant and bar downstairs in the venue, the wedding coordinator said in the past couples have had their guests go down there for drinks (and the couple was billed at the end). Our other option was having our cocktail hour on a boat out in the harbour, unfortunately they don't have an hour long cocktail hour available, only a two hour. Is there anyway that would work? We may just have to pass on the venue all together, but I thought I'd look for suggestions here before making up my mind.
