After Party?

I had mentioned to my fiance about possibly going out after our reception.  My mother has insisted that we do the send off, so we will stay until very close to the end but not all the way.  Our reception ends at 10 and I know I will be tired, but I don't know that I will be ready for the fun to end.

Anyone else thinking about an after party or going out to a bar or something afterwards?

Re: After Party?

  • We didn't because our reception ended at midnight and we were the last to leave.

The best thing to do would just be to play it by ear.  That way if you do feel like continuing the party, you can just walk around that night and tell your friends and get a group together, but if you don't feel like it you don't have to and  you won't feel obligated because you haven't told anyone yet.

  • We did. After our reception a lot of the people that were staying at the hotel went down to the hotel bar and hung out there until closing.
  • We didn't, and I kind of wish we had.  I mean, we had fun on our own, but there were a lot of people that we don't get to see a whole lot of.

I agree w/PP about playing it by ear.  That way if you are too tired, you can bail, but if you are up for it, you can go.
  • We met up with a lot of people staying at the hotel in the hotel bar after the reception. I thought I would be way too tired, but it was a lot of fun.

  • we are definitely having one! we live in NYC and our wedding will be in the city. we love to go out, and so do our friends, so we'll definitely want to keep the celebration going

playing it by ear is a good idea, but we will need to find a bar beforehand and reserve space since the crowd may be too big for many of the small whole-in-the-wall places in new york
  • I want an after party.  My family always talks about how much fun they had after my parent's reception.  My parents did not attend the after party because they went straight to their honeymoon and always wished they were able to attend.

I'm kind of playing it by ear, but will probably do something low key.  Our hotel has a poolside bar that is open late, so weather depending, I think we'll just hang out at the hotel with any friends and family who are interested.
  • FI works part time at a liquor store so we get alcohol super cheap; our wedding is just a small event at a restaurant so no dancing/music so we're having an after party at our place for all of our friends.   We may stop at an awesome german bar down the street from the reception site first but we're playing it by ear...
