Song for those who have passed away before wedding

My Fiance and I were thinking of having a song play, in memory of those who have passed before being able to attend the wedding.

Grand-parents, Parents, God-parents friends, ect. 

But we're seeming to have a hard time finding a song that would really be appropriate.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm not sure I follow you here.  Are you talking about at the ceremony or at the reception?  Is someone going to make an announcement saying this is all for the dead people?  It's kind of odd unless you don't say anything and it's just something that you and your fi will keep between yourselves.  So, when you hear it you'll think of those people, but it won't be morbid.

I don't like this idea at all, but I like Justin Moore's "If Heaven Wasn't so Far Away". It's sweet but not too down-ey. I understand wanting to do something in memory, but do something small. Something big like a candle on an empty seat or a song at the reception is too much and could take away from the happiness of the day.

This could make people very uncomfortable if they know it's a song dedicated to the deceased.

Skip it.  A wedding should be an upbeat occasion, not one meant to create sadness.  No need to remind people their loved ones are dead.

Skip.  You can honor your passed loved ones in subtle ways; in our short slideshow we had pictures of us with our grandparents who had passed.  I had a picture of my late grandmother for a bouquet charm.  I requested that an Elvis song be played at my reception, so I could dance with my grandfather to it (grandma LOVED Elvis).  It meant the world to the people who knew about it; but didn't cause any uncomfortable or unsettling feelings for our guests.

For my wedding, I'm simply placing a rose on a chair next to where my Mom will be sitting in memory of my Dad who passed away when I was very young.

I agree I would skip the song. This could really bring up a lot of sadness on such a happy day. Even you want to honor the people who have passed I have seen vases that say in memory of loved ones that couldn't be here with us for our special day. Or one think I am doing is clipping a small photo frame to my flowers that I carry with a picture of my grandfather which I lost in May .
