Popcorn Table

Has anyone done a popcorn table at your reception? It sounds like a really fun idea, but I want to make sure it's not too cheesy! Any info would help! Thanks!

Re: Popcorn Table

  • I think it is a great idea, but don't make it too tacky. I know of a few places that do colored popcorn and flavored popcorn... you could have different colors/flavors. You can 'personalize' it, just google it. For example, your wedding colors can be the color of the popcorn. I think it is a fun idea, like a mini snack table. Also, I don't think it's a bad idea to add some other snacks to the table that go with popcorn, like trail mix, almonds, nuts, candy, etc. Sounds fun!! :)

I also thinkits a great idea (who doesn't love popcorn), I wonder if you can rent one of those nice popcorn makers that just rest on the table like this one http://www.buy.com/prod/popcorn-time-antique-popcorn-machine-in-black/221622311.html

or you can go with the traditional orange color  http://order.jumpforfun.com/gallery5.shtm?gclid%253DCKPhmozey7ACFQF7hwodj10eVg

I think you can make it work so that it doesn't look cheesy at your reception
  • Thanks ladies! I found some big glass jars at a craft store and was thinking about using those with scoops. I found some white containers online and could use those with a personalized sticker on the front? I just know how some of these types of ideas can get "tacky" as you said, hgreenwood89! I'll just keep playing around with ideas!
  • Our popcorn bar at the reception was a hit!  We just used big glass jars that we found at Hobby Lobby and had six varieties of popcorn (butter, cheesy caramel, white cheddar jalapeno, buffalo wings, chocolate swirl and monster munch).  We just decorated the table with our wedding colors and some simple paper doilies.  We just used simple white popcorn bags for guests to fill/refill.  One tip that was helpful was talking to wherever you are getting the popcorn from to get estimates for how much you will need depending on your guest count.

We put a tent sign on all the tables to tell guests about the popcorn bar:  "Life is salty, love is sweet.  Visit the popcorn bar for a treat."
