Will they dance?

I know that this question is completely dependent on my guestlist, and I should know best, but I'm wondering if my guests will dance at my wedding. Some background info: it's a Sunday wedding, reception starts at 1:00. There will be alcohol (beer, wine, champagne toast). Would you dance?

Re: Will they dance?

  • Our social group loves to eat, drink and dance regardless of the day of week or time of day.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • It really depends on your guests. Some will dance that early and others won't. There's no way to predict for certain.
  • Ditto PPs, it really depends on your crowd. My dance floor was packed all night, but our families are both the type of people that if you give them the space and the music, dancing will just happen.

  • afternoon receptions are no different than evening receptions. unless you have a sucky DJ! :)
  • Generally, if there is alcohol and good music, people will dance.
  • The music, food, and acohol certainly set the stage, but only if guests are inclined to dance in the first place.  Some people are dancers, some are not.

I personally love to dance, and would be up dancing, but only if I have someone to dance with.  If you are in an area where line dancing is pretty common, then that will help also.

I was recently at a wedding, where the DJ got out and taught people a few line dances.  People were having fun and joining in, and there was not even alcohol at this wedding, lol.
