Need help with colors.

We set a date yesterday (feb 12th 2011) and found a venue.
We found a barn that we LOVE. We are having the ceremony and the reception there.

We are doing in the winter time, but two days before valentines day.
I was originally thinking of doing whites, silvers and ice blues for the color palette but for some reason I keep thinking red, for valentines day.

What other colors have you seen people use for winter weddings?

Re: Need help with colors.

  • I'm having a winter wedding and my colors are eggplant and lavendar. You don't have to go with the traditional seasonal colors if you don't want to.
  • i find white, silver, and blue to be overplayed in winter weddings. choose colors that you and your fiance love, don't feel forced to match the season!

  • The most recent issue of Brides magazine had a few winter wedding color palatte options.  The one I liked best was evergreen, with just a variety of greens and browns.

The white/silver/ice blue combo is ridiculously overplayed for winter weddings.  You have a lot more options if you don't limit yourself to what's common for the season.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I think you should go with whatever colors you and your FI love. I think reds really look amazing in the winter months they really pop. If you like the blues, white, and silver go ahead, but if you are doing it because of the time of year, then skip it. Do the colors you like.

  • How about ice pink, silver & white?

I think that it's totally possible for you to use those colors. It's possible to make almost any color combination work, almost, :). But I  like light blue with red and silver accents, I think it could be really pretty, and really different too. Try googling your colors and see what you can come up with. I like these two, personally. http://www.primadonnabride.co.za/2009/02/light-blue-and-red-wedding-detail.html http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c31/chrissymarie98/cherry.jpg?t=1239821274 Good luck!

  • I am doing a fall wedding but I didn't want to be limited by fall colors. i chose blue and brown because it was Fi and I's eye colors I then added burnt orange as an accent color to go a little with the season. My suggestion would be to pick  to colors that are important to you and then highligh with red, silver, or pale blu edepending on the other two colors.
