How many left at end of night?

Hi everyone,

I would like to do the sparkler get away at the end of the night, but have no idea how many people will still be there, and therefore how many sparklers to order. They're pretty expensive because they're really nice wedding ones that burn for a full 4 minutes, and are brighter than your average sparkler, so I'd like to only order as many as will be needed.

So I'm wondering, is there an average percentage of how many people typically stick it out till the end of the night? You know, like there's a percentage for how many will attend vs how many were invited?

Things to consider: Our wedding is on a Sunday, and there are a lot of OOT guests, so this makes me think not many will be left at the end. But then there's the fact that the reception starts and ends early (ends at 11:00, so the getaway is at 10:45). Maybe that's early enough that a lot of people will still be there? But they do have to work the next day.....

216 people are invited. Any guesses how many will be left at the end?

Thanks!

  • we had about 85% stay until the end.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

We had about 50% left at the end of the night but we also had a lot of older people there.

  • Hard to tell really.  Have you thought about doing the sparklers for when you and your hubby are announced for the first time at the beginning of the reception?

  • We probably had half of our guests still there at the end, maybe more.
  • That Sunday bit might make your numbers smaller.

I have no idea how many people stayed until the end of ours (11:30).  The day is mighty blurry.  I would guess about than half of 150 people.

  • Yeah, there are a lot of variables here.  Are there many families with young kids?  Old folks?  Those things will change who will be left.  If you have people that need to work the next day as well.

I would go with your gut and if someone doesn't get a sparkler, I doubt they'll be completely crushed.  Since it's something just for show, I don't think anyone will be too upset if they don't get one.

I would order one for every guest.... I would hate to be left out if the older crowd decides to stick it out.........but great idea !
