Paper Lanterns

Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with lighting paper lanterns? What is the best way to light them while also being economical?
Thanks!

Re: Paper Lanterns

  • before purchasing i would check with your reception venue.  some may not allow it :)
  • They are avail. on the knot but if you check with any wedding coordinator they could probably purchase them for you wholesale.

Depending on your wedding check with your venue if they allow them to be lit. The reason is that paper lanterns can easily cause fires. I was at first really interested as well as using them but we have been having such dry summers here they could easily cause a forest fire.

If you do end up purchasing them, and trying them out please let me know how it went.
  • I guess you are talking about the round Chinese style paper laterns? I used these to decorate for a party before and we bought them super cheap and used little clip in battery powered LED lights to light them. They weren't super bright... so it isn't like I was using them for lighting, more like ambiance, but they worked well and looked nice. I think we ended up paying about $1-$5 per latern depending on size, and about $4 each on the lights.

  • Yes, I am talking about the chinese paper lanters. Just for decoration not for actual lighting.
