Inspiration Help!!!

So my fiance and I are getting married in a month, and I am scrambling around trying to find all of the decorations.

Problem is, our reception theme is pretty crazy.  Every other table is going to have a different theme.  Now, we keep the same style with every table so they don't look too crazy.
Everything is antique looking.  Like, for alice and wonderland we have an old metal tea pot, like the tall whimsical looking ones, and we will have tea cups and stuff, and then probably throw down a bunch of random flowers.  Then we have Snow White, which will have a large old bowl that has white apples and then the top one will be a red one.  again with flowers sprinkled around it.  Beauty and the Beast, a covered flower.

We are having issues thinking of what to use as the centerpieces for these other stories...

Gullivers travels (I'm thinking an old globe, possibly surrounded by rope or something?)
Alice through the looking glass
Treasure Island
Peter Pan
Aladdin
The Jungle Book
Jeckyll & Hyde

Let me know if you guys have any ideas! Remember, everything is in a very old silver, gold or wood style.

Thanks!!!!

Rebecca

Re: Inspiration Help!!!

  • Treasure Island= antique looking treasure chest with fake jewels etc inside.

  • This is a really cool idea let me just say :)
For the stories, I just thought I'd suggest some:
Gullivers travels - an atlas or a globe with rope is nice, or you could try an atlas with flowers sprinkled along the different spots he travelled
Alice through the looking glass - a mirror and preferably a stopwatch hanging over it
Treasure Island - is treasure chest a little corny? I think it'd be neat to do one but with flowers spilling out instead of fake dubloons
Peter Pan - definitely should go with pixie dust bottles
Aladdin - the magic lamp would be neat if you could find one, but arabian themes are so magestic, you could just do some scented oils, flowers and beads
The Jungle Book - this one is tough if you want to steer clear of figurines but even some cool vines laced over a mini tree (maybe bonsai but more tropical looking)
Jeckyll & Hyde - this one I'm a bit stumped... maybe a silouhette portrait of half black and half white, framed in an antique frame and surrounding it could be mini vials
to love is to be two, and yet one. A man and a woman blended as angels. Heaven itself... - Victor Hugo Wedding Countdown Ticker
  • I'm no help but this seems SOOOOOO cool. Great idea! [:

  • Jeckll and Hyde: I would do a Top Hat and vials of green goo or something...that's probably too Halloween-ish for you, but that just popped into my head. :)

You could incorporate chocolate gold coins as part of the chest.. To go along with the treasure chest ideas
  • This is so fun!

Gullivers travels - what about some maps rolled up and tied with twine and placed in an antique metal vase, a sort of paper bouquet?

Alice through the looking glass - You definitely need an antique looking glass, you could bundle it with some dried flowers. Musicjailbird7 is so right about the pocket watch, too.

Treasure Island - Do the treasure chest, it seems obvious but everyone will recognize it! I like JZreader's idea about the chocolate coins scattered around the outside. Then you can fill it with flowers or lay a tied bouquet in it.

Peter Pan - I haven't seen it in sooo long but didn't the pixies live in little houses that sort of looked like whimsical birdhouses? You could do an arrangement of fairy houses and an old hook hand. Try an oddities shop online for the hook!

Aladdin -  It would be so incredible if you could find a lamp! Also, what about smaller pieces of fabric that resemble the flying carpet? You could make mini rugs or go deconstructed and give the impression of the magic carpet with ornate persian fabrics and tassels.

The Jungle Book -  I would use fabric to convey the different jungle animals, get different colors, textures and prints and either layer them under the floral arrangement, use them to tie up the flowers or roll them up like flowers inside of a vase (as with the maps). You could also incorporate large, tropical leaves or flowers.

Jeckyll & Hyde - I like a combo of the things suggested by everyone else. A vintage top hat would look really neat with maybe old journals stacked up under it. Then you could place a few pretty vials around it.

For Beauty and the Beast have you considered adding a teapot, teacup, candelabra, and/or small clock.  Small antiques to represent the characters.

This is such a fun idea, good luck!!!!
