2 Different Tablecloths

I am wondering if it would look terrible to have 2 different table cloths - one of a crushed look and one of a checkerboard look. I am also thinking that if I don't use to different textures, I'd have two different colors - Green & Brown.

Bridesmaids dresses will probably be brown, and tuxedos black with green vest.

Thoughts on the tablecloths? Pictures would be awesome!

My fiance' doesn't think either is a good idea and would rather have a table runner - I am just thinking its more to rent....$$ So I don't like that idea so much.

:) Thanks!

Re: 2 Different Tablecloths

  • I can't really picture two different textures, especially crushed with checkboard, but two different colors is very common.

Look through here to see if you find anything:

  • You could do all speciality tables in one linen/color and all guests (seating) tables in another color/linen.

I wouldn't mix and match them on the same table
  • I definitely wouldn't mix and match on the same table, but I think doing alternating tables would be fine.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • I dont like the idea of crushed/checkerboard but I think alternating colors would look nice.
  • Sorry for the misunderstanding - It'd be crushed on half the tables and checkerboard on others.

Does anyone have any pictures of this? Or of two different colors or textures on the tables?

I am want to show my fiance. Thanks.
  • Sorry, I'm having a lot of trouble seeing a checkered pattern in one type cloth, going with a crinkle texture of another type cloth.  No matter what color they are, the styles  and level of formality are just too different.

Alternating colors of the same texture would be fine, or possibly two different textures but only if they are of similar formality and similar type cloth.

In design, contrast is good, but you have to have other elements for it to work, like repetition, harmony, balance, etc...  Get too many things going on, it just looks cluttered and haphazard.

Instead of renting table runners, you can buy inexpensive packages of cloth napkins in a contrasting color, to use in the center of the table under your centerpieces.

  • I'm not digging the checked.  I don't even like it in super informal bbq restaurants, though.

  • I think different textures is a fabulous idea! but you should show him in person what they look like.. I dont personally like checkered but the crushed would go good with a pinstripe or diamond pattern (solid of course)
I'm doing an overlay with a runner of our pattern and i like it but it is a little more then i expected so i understand wanting to save money. Good luck!
