Plum or Eggplant, Silver, and white?

Hi! We're planning a November 2014 wedding and have started to think about our colors. We'd like to do shades of dark purple, silver, and white with a majesticy, wintry feel (i.e. not snowflakes, but "frosted" trees, candles, etc). One of my friends pointed out that we shouldn't do this because mid-November isn't technically "winter." Instead she suggested we do a more "fall theme" or else the decor will look out of place or odd.

I'm still pretty stuck on my original vision, but I don't want anyone to side-eye it. So, if you went to a wedding in mid-November with my color scheme and majestic, wintry vision, would it strike you as odd or out of place?

Thank you for any input! :)

  • It does seem more appropriate for a deep winter wedding.   But it isn't impossible.  Just go light on the frost aspects of the decor.

    Sounds lovely, btw.

  • Where is it stated that you have to go by the "proper" color scheme based on the season you're getting married? I'd love to see that! I'm getting married this coming November with a color scheme of aubergine, charcoal, and ice blue. Your colors sound lovely, don't change them just because someone else thinks you should!
  • Go with your colors!!  It doesn't have to match the season but if you want to make sure that certain people don't "side-eye your vision" then try to stay away from the frost aspects.  I'm getting married in April and our colors are deep purple, silver, black, and white!

  • I would go even further with your theme if it's in the fall. Make it so that your guests feel like they're stepping into another world. Don't go overboard, but don't skimp on the frost - otherwise it might be confusing. Make it bold and clear what your theme is.

  • MY colors include eggplant and I am getting married in June. Pick what you like
  • I was going to get married in mid November (we changed our date to NYE) and we were going to do deep purple, pewter/charcoal with teal accents. I think those colors sound beautiful for a November wedding, and even though I think oranges, golds and reds are pretty, they can be overdone for fall weddings. Go with what you love!

  • Its Your wedding. Go with Your colors. My wedding is in early April and my colors are the same as yours. I've had ppl tell me to go lighter because of Easter. Everyone has an opinion. Enjoy your day the way you want it. Smile
