thumbprint guestbook tree question :)

so my grandma is drawing out a tree for my guest book & then we would like the guests to use an inkpad to make a thumb print as a leaf :) i was wondering, for those of you who have done this, what type of ink did you use for the ink pad? & where did you buy it? i believe the tree will be on heavy cardstock.

I was just at a wedding last weekend that did something similar except that instead of using a thumbprint (potential to be very messy!), they had a little leaf stamp that we used and then we signed our names around the edge of the leaf.  It was really cute :)

edited to add:  They also had the print already framed so it looked really nice on the table too

  • i did one for my sister's baby shower and got the ink from michael's. the ink section explained which type of ink would work for various projects. i also double checked with a sales person. i bought a four-pack of ink and it worked really well. the leaves were different colours that worked well together.
  • I'd suggest having wet wipes for people to wipe the ink off their fingers afterwards. That should help minimize the mess.
