Re: DIY Polls: Flowers

  • We didn't DIY, but we did shop around extensively until we found a lady that did silks out of her home.  She was much cheaper because she doesn't have all the overhead costs that come with having a physical shop.  Silks were important to me because I am not only highly allergic to most flowers, but when spending that much money I want them to last.

  • I'm making all of my flowers out of paper.  I've gotten a lot of compliments so far.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • We are having sunflower bouquets so it's pretty easy to DIY. A florist shop bouquet would be $40, the ones we are making are $5.

You can get flowers from farmers markets for $1 a stem.
  • We are doing our own bouquets. $5 versus $40!!!

  • All my wedding floral including ceremony and reception were DIY in silks.

  • My Mom was a florist so she and I are going to be doing all the flowers. We are doing a few things that don't require a ton of work like the centerpieces which will be potted flowers. Otherwise we will be making all of the boquets.
  • My sister and I are DIYing them. THe flowers I want are in season and cheap at the gorcery store. Its not hard to put them in vases for centerpieces, or to make bouquets or bouts..

  • We are doing fresh carnations on the tables, and will order fresh flowers for the church, but otherwise I am making all the bouquets, etc with artificials. My girls are wearing black, so each girl's bouquet will be hydrangeas in their favorite color.  Haven't decided what my bouquet will be yet.

  • I'm ordering my flowers in bulk from Costco. Then we'll assemble all our bouquets and centerpieces ourselves.

We're not doing boutenierres bc FI hates them. So it should be pretty simple. Nothing fancy.

My bouquet may be made by a florist, but otherwise our flowers will be DIY. I've already collected all different gorgeous milk glass vases, and we'll be using 1 type of flower per vase, 3-5 vases per table. And I have an army of cousins and knotties who have offered to decorate the tables/ finish the flowers!

(Because I'm a super-control freak, I'll probably have pictures ready of each CP, so the right vases go to the right tables lol.)

We're considering doing bouts, my ladies' bouquets and the corsages out of fabric, or some other non-floral option....
