Buffet dinner vs Plated Sit-Down Dinner?

For weddings I prefer a plated dinner.  I hate waiting in line for my food while all dressed up.  Let's not even think about spills and accidents.

I prefer plated. I don't like having to wait in line to get my food. The last wedding I went to I had to stand in line for like 20 minutes. I was hungry and standing in a crowd was not something I wanted to do!

I voted for buffet, for the same reasons PP have stated. Picky people may not eat everything on their plate, it would make me feel like I'm spending money on the food but no one will eat it. Buffet everyone can get what they want and how much they want.

Also, again, like PP, check with your caterer with the prices of plated v. buffet... PP have said that plated cost more, but there are a couple in my area that charge more for buffet. Reason being because people come up for seconds, therefore they need more food.

it seems pretty split down the middle on opinions here. thanks everyone for all the comments! you've all given me some good points to factor in to deciding
