Clown at a wedding

Is it ok to hire a clown for the kids at a wedding? Thank you for the help!

Re: Clown at a wedding

• Oh God...seriously? Get some coloring books and crayons or something...but a clown? That just made me cringe.
• thats a bday not a wedding but my opinion. the way i see it its your wedding and not how to i keep kids from being bored. i would do what PP said about coloring books. an crayons
• No clowns at a wedding even if it's for the kids. Honestly what if some of the kids are afraid of clowns? Coloring books a kids table some fun non messy activities and they will be fine!

• Clowns are for children's birthday parties. The kids will be fine with some simple coloring books or games.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

• 1. Some kids and even adults are scared of clowns.
2. This is not a birthday party. It's a wedding.

• No clown. Coloring books worked for our nieces and nephews.

• Please don't. Just...no.
• No no no However - -- I do think if you are having a casual type wedding where the adults are having dinner and the kids have a separate supervised room, there can be kids entertainment ie clown or face painter. I really think this can only be done if your wedding is super casual. I went to a wedding like this where the bride and groom already had 2 children together and they invited everyone with kids so it was sort of something to entertain the kids. It almost seemed like a bday party for the kids But as a formal affair, I would say NO.
• I really hope you're joking.

• #1 worst idea I've ever heard.

• Clowns are scary as hell. Why in the world would you want that at your wedding? No, just no. Worst idea ever!

• So I occasionally watch Bridezillas as my guilty pleasure TV show. There was an episode where the MOB wanted to hire clowns and it was the most ridiculous thing ever. Since I think it's pretty fair to say that show is completely made-up and staged, I never thought I would have heard of that as an actual idea. So along with everyone else, a big NO.

I remember that episode! Both the bride and the mother were completely crazy. I know many times those shows are staged but sometimes I really think some of those people are just that crazy.

I actually felt bad for the bride in that episode (for like the first time ever) because I really thought her mom was crazy and that's what brought on her craziness.
• I have a fear of clowns and would be on edge the entire time. Don't do this!

Haha - and what if some of the ADULTS are afraid of clowns? But seriously, jesshafiz, your heart is in the right place. A kids table is a great idea and I think parents will appreciate that you thought of it.

• You're hosting an adult event, not a children's birthday party. So not only do you not need a clown, you don't really need to do anything to entertain the children. They are attending an adult event, so they need to adapt to you, not you to them. Their parents know to bring along small toys or whatever to entertain their kids.
• If you want something fun for the kids and it's a really casual wedding, I had a friend do a bounce house. I think all of the kids loved the bouce house, and a few of the groomsmen even had a go around.
