After Reception

Hi everyone!

My fiance and I are having an 11:30 ceremony, cocktails from 12-1 and then a full luncheon reception with open bar/dancing until 4 or 4:30 (need to be out of the venue by 5).

We would like to continue to celebrate with our guests after the reception has ended, and I am wondering the best way to do this.  Part of the reason we chose to have an early ceremony is that more than half of our guests will be from out of town and we wanted to be able to spend more of our day celebrating and less getting ready.

Should we give people time to go back to their hotel rooms, chill out, get some dinner and then just say we're going to meet somewhere?  Or should we continue the party right from the reception?  Unfortunately, we're not in a situation where we could afford to host a dinner at a restaurant in addition to the reception, so if we go out immediately I don't want to give people the impression that we will be hosting.  I just want to spend more time with as many people as possible before they have to fly out the next day.

Any suggestions?

TIA!

  • I agree with pp. I think you should make it informal and not send invites so that way people can come if they feel up to it but not feel obligated.
