We're using post cards as our escort cards that'll coordinate with our table names. We named our tables after places we've been together, so the post cards will be of the place the table is named after. For example if your escort card is a post card from Aruba, then you'll go sit down at "Table Aruba".
  • I'm having traditional escort cards, but my place cards are votive candles with each guests name painted on.  I bought a stencil for the Edwardian Script font, and painted the  names myself.  I had to use frosted glass votives to help the paint stay on better.
  • Ours are tiny sandwich board-type cards with a miniature bell on them with a cute poem that encourages guests to ring the bell to get us to kiss.

I don't LIKE the whole concept of making the couple kiss, but I HATE the tapping of silverware on glasses and/or singing songs with the word "love" or something similarly stupid.  This way I can kind of nudge them into a less tacky method of initiating the kissing WHILE showing them where to sit!

Plus, it's yet another little "take home" thing for them at the end of the evening.

  • FI and I met at a college hockey game, and he always came to visit me working in the ticket office of the arena when we first started dating.  So, we are naming the tables after arenas where we have been to games and the escort cards are going to look like tickets.

my back up idea is to name the tables after monopoly board spaces (we love board games) and have the escort cards look like the property cards in the game :)
  • YES!

You have to check out www.stonesbysarah.com

They sell personalized handwritten stones for place cards or escort cards. My sister used them for her wedding and it was all the guests talked about they LOVED them. Plus they are affordable and double as a take home favor.

    I love unique ideas!

  • My table names are also of places FI and I have been together.  My place cards are 'luggage tags.'  Made them out of cardstock, printed 'name' and destination' onto each one, one-hole punched each and added a ribbon at the end, and also glued on a little paper airplane (bought a stamper from Michaels.)

I love the idea of naming tables after places. FH and I are nerds and I want to name the tables after planets or geological periods or something. ;)
