Pearl S. Buck House

Has anyone had their wedding at the Pearl S. Buck House or been to a wedding there? I've perused the website and sent a message asking about rental fees but am eager to know more! We really like the location and it has extra meaning since Pearl Buck was an advocate for intercultural relations and the adoption of Asian children. My fiancee is South Korean and he's adopted so this fits perfectly with us. Plus, all rental fees go to supporting this cause. Any info would be helpful! Thanks!

I considered PSB for my reception, but the company that runs the rental of it (Open Air Affairs) is pretty pricey.  You bring your own caterer, but you have to pay Open Air Affairs a rental fee of several thousand dollars, plus an additional price per head (maybe $10, I can't remember) on top of that.  Just make sure you get the pricing info before you book.  Open Air also has open houses there fairly often, check out their website for more info.

Thanks for the information. Do you remember what the fee was? I emailed them and just left a message. I'm eager to find out because I'm meeting with a caterer tomorrow. Thanks!

Sorry, I can't remember exactly, but I think the rental fees in total will run you about $5k for a peak season Saturday evening.  And a good chunk of those rental fees go to Open Aire Affairs.  One other thing to consider--your guests have to walk a decent distance outside (bad if it rains) to use the restrooms, something to consider if you have elderly guests. If you are looking in the Central Bucks area, I am getting married at Aldie Mansion and the all rental fees there go the Heritage Conservancy (another good cause).

Hi Michelle, I am Michelle too and I am getting married at the Pearl S Buck Estate next April.  I fell madly in love with it!  The fee is about $5000 with half the money going to the institute.  I also loved that I can pick any caterer (and other vendors) that I wanted.  I found a caterer that charges $30 less than the others with WAY better food.  Even with the fee from Open Aire it works out to be the same or less per person as many of the other venues b/c of the saving you can find with your other vendors.  Larry (open aire) is also lots of fun.

I'm getting married at PSB next June. I'm using Crystal Rose Catering and they're fantastic.
