Penny Press Machine Rentals????

On our first date, my fiance bought me a penny passport at the baltimore aquarium and playfully picked on me for collecting them (and has ever since). I was thinking it would be really cute to have a custom penny press machine at our reception (in lieu of a photo booth) which would also serve as favors. Does anybody know of any place to rent such a machine? I haven't been able to find anything anywhere!

I don't know where to rent these... but just curious, what do you expect people to do with a pressed penny after your wedding?
  • This would not be a meaningful favor.  We do the pressed pennies whenever we are on vacay.  We have a small pile of them.  We were discussing tossing them because they really are quite useless.
  • I am not interested in anybody's opinion on the meaningfulness or otherwise of my idea. It is meaningful and personal to us. If you think about it, what is anybody going to do with a stupid favor except feel guilty about throwing them away. At least a penny doesnt take up much space. I only was asking whether or not anybody knew of a place to rent the machines. If you do not know of one, please keep your negative comments to yourself.

  • I think this is a really cool idea, because I also collect smashed pennies. I have a couple of books full from vacations.  PPs are right, though, that this could be very costly, and not everyone would cherish this favor as much as people who collect these pennies.  Personally, I would rather have this than another can coozie or bag of candy, but I know not everyone feels the same way.

This is a website I found on a Google search.  Hopefully it helps!

  • So  you are choosing your thank you gifts aka favors according to what you like instead of thinking about what your guests would like?  Good luck with that bridezilla.

I don't see anything wrong with planning our wedding around who we are as a couple. Don't most brides choose colors they like? Food? Etc?  I think that a penny passport complete with the first penny is a cute favor for families like ours who like to travel, or will have lots of kids present.
  • Jesspie....I actually think it is a very UNIQUE idea.... sooo many people want to do the same ol same ol when it comes to favors...

Kudos to you thinking outside the box

  • I'm right there with you  OP!  My fiance and I collect those everywhere we go and had also thought this would be cute to have one at our wedding too, so you are not alone.  And thanks to the PP who had info on it cause we thought this was impossible to find.  If people don't like it they don't need to make one!  Depending on cost (I haven't looked yet) we don't know if we will do it, buts its cool to know its an option.

haha exactly! thanks, and happy planning!
  • I can't believe some of the responses you got to your post. I think its a really cute idea, though I unfortunately have no idea where you could rent one. Do whatever you want for YOUR wedding...don't let anyone change your mind!
  • My is PhillyPennyPress.com (though it's going to be updated soon, I have an additional set of images that I can offer for people who don't want to get a custom die)Getting a custom die is with your images and words is relatively expensive, a little over $400, but it's a pretty cool keepsake for you to keep on your mantel. Again though, if you are doing this on the cheap, I have the images you see on the site, and another set I'll send you if you'd like.If you are interested, please shoot me an email- info@phillypennypress.com****Also, didn't mention in my DM to you, I have penny passports available where you can put your own custom paper in the cover sleeve****
  • I think this is a great idea and my fiance and I want to do this also. Have you found anywhere that rents out the machines!?

    Thanks for your help!

Jesspie, I found this thread after googling penny machine rentals for weddings. My fiance hunts down pressed pennies when we travel, and I think it's adorable that he likes them so much. I want to surprise him with a machine at the wedding. I'm sad to see so many people here with nasty things to say your wedding is about YOUR relationship, not greedy guests. I hope everything goes well for you! Thanks for starting this thread and helping me find more information on the subject.
