Sparklers for Send Off

We are considering sparklers for our send off after the reception. I have read a lot of posts about using them and the lengths to choose and needing lighters in lieu of matches. I have one BIG question....

Should we be concerned about the sparks burning my gown or more importantly, our guests clothes?

Has anyone out there used them and had any experience with this?

    My venue didn't allow them but our photographer said that he was burned by a guest at a wedding he was photographing.  He is now very cautious when B&Gs have sparklers.

    Yes, I was just at a wedding that had sparklers- she was dodging the sparks flying everywhere. Also, be careful of the smoke- she just got her pictures back and they are filled with smoke and you can barely see her and her groom.

    Check with the venue first. It's against fire code in many places.

    they're on fire. of course you should worry about burning your dress/you/FI/guests/clothes.
