Kitchenaid Mixer

I see a lot of you talk about this and probably registered for one too.

Convince me why we should also register for one.

Love to bake! I love stirring things too though- is that what the kitchenaid mixer does? Or does it do more stuff than just stirring?

Probably a good idea for me to do some research now :)

  • My fiance is excited about the kitchenaid mixer not just because of the baking, but because of all the "attachments" that you can get to add to your kitchenaid mixer!

You can make sausage, make ice cream, grind meat....there really isn't anything that you can't do in it! Check out all the attachment options and I bet you will get excited :)

We actually had a kitchenaid mixer because my loopy FMIL gave one to FI when he graduated from college! Oy!  It was never opened so we gave it to someone as a wedding present last year.

  • @Penny  Lol I just realized that your shoes have a cat on them. Cute!

  • Because of all the pretty colors you can choose from! lol.

It is a good mixer if you bake.I cannot wait to get mine. My mom has one and it is the best thing ever.

  • My Italian fiance is looking forward to making pasta with ours. So, yes, I hope we get it! And the attachments!

  • I knew I was forgetting an important attachment - the pasta one is an awesome one!
  • I have one already and love it, especially for making cookies at Christmas time. Cookie dough is just too tough to mix by hand, but the Kitchenaid handles it like a champ. I registered for the pasta attachment. It's kinda pricey, but I hope we get it!!

Ditto Bmorebride... this mixer can handle ANYTHING.

It's really sturdy and durable, too, which is why it's extremely heavy.  I can't live without one.

  • I bake a lot and use my moms kitchenaid. It is the best thing that ever happened to my baking. Like, all the recipies say to "cream" the butter and sugar. I never really understood that until I used the kitchenaid. Its actually creamy and fluffy! I was never able to get thatmixing by hand. Everything comes out so much fluffyier and much better mixed. Its made everything better. I also use it to make double batches a lot, which I didn't do by hand because it was to heavy. And I make my own frosting now, its really easy and quick.

The only problem I have is that the beater doesn't reach the bottom of the bowl, or the sides, so you have to scrape it with a spatual and mix before you actually bake. However, they started making a beater wth a silicone edge that fixes that. My aunt says it works so I registered for one of them too.

  • We got the Professional 5 with the lift bowl for a steal at the Kitchen Collection outlet, $169.  They have a website, too and do deals a lot on them.  We got it in black.  My FI does all the cooking and he LOVES it.  We use it a lot more around the holidays, but he also does mashed potatoes in it and other stuff.  We don't have all the attachments yet, but I plan to aquire them as I find good deals on them.  He specifically said the bigger bowl makes a huge difference and the lift part.  You may not need one that big now, but you eventually will and they're built to last forever!

I registered for the first one (the spaghetti kind), but I would also love the roller one. Which did you choose?
    Wedding Countdown Ticker
  • I registered for the roller one it got more reviews I really wasn't sure which one to do.

  • Yeah, maybe I'll switch it for the roller. I just noticed that it also makes fettucine and spaghetti. I thought it was just for lasagna sheets and ravioli type stuff, but it looks quite versatile.

  • Because it's preeettttyyyy

No but seriously, everything that pps said pretty much covered it, it does a whole lot.

  • I've had one for about a year now and LOVE it. I used my mom's growing up...they last forever! My mom has had her's for as long as I can remember...probably at least 20 years and it's still going strong!

We use ours for mashed potatoes, cookies, bread, etc. They have an ice cream maker...my sister has it and it's wonderful :) She has the Raspberry Ice color and it is gorgeous! Mine is boring white (because it was the one on sale on Black Friday a couple of years ago)...but she has a bright pink theme in her kitchen (she's single and lives alone lol)

I'm hoping we get the pasta attachment, but not on sale, that thing is close to $300!!!

  • I <3 this thread!!!

I registered for the Raspberry Ice one from Macy's.  Sure it's big and pink and will never match anything in my kitchen, but no matter what color I choose it's bound to not match everything anyway (unless i went w/ a neutral color, but I'm weird and think that's too boring)

  • Haha, it sounds a bit complicated. Maybe we should just register for one and figure out how to use it. I've never seen any of my friends or family have one!

  • I got one last month and LOVE it!  Have you ever tried to beat eggs until frothy with a hand mixer?  Its impossible!  We will use ours for tons of stuff.  Its so awesome bc you can do so much with it.  I have been dying for one forever and was so happy to get one for my birthday this year!
