White or Ivory?

Hi!
I bought my wedding dress this past weekend for our March 2012 wedding!!!  I ended up getting an ivory dress.  For an overall color scheme, I was thinking of doing a watermelon pink color with white and green accents.  Do you think I should switch to ivory for linens instead of white?  Will ivory linens look weird with white chairs??

Re: White or Ivory?

  • White will be fine. You're overthinking this and I assure you that most people will not even realize your dress is ivory. Ivory looks close enough to white.

  • They are neutral colors. You will be just fine. Don't stress about the small things.
  • i agree, people won't notice. i think the colors sound great together too!
  • Ditto PP. Nobody will even notice the difference. I would do white and call it good.

I ordered an ivory aisle runner instead of white...I'm glad I did.  White would've been to "bright" for me.  But I am using white napkins with Ivory chair bows, and as PP said no one will notice or care.  good luck!

As PPs have noted, this is one of the bazillions of things we brides worry about but nobody actually notices, much less cares about. We're all guilty of obsessing over insignificant details, but seriously, before getting engaged, what did you actually notice about your friends' weddings? Contrary to all the wedding hype, most people aren't going to dissect every detail of your day and judge you for the rest of your life on the awesomeness or lameness of your perfectly matched decor and dress. If they are, they're probably not very good friends. Be a good hostess, put some thought into the major things (band, photography, and food for us as these are the only things my FI really notices at weddings), and don't sweat the rest. I heard a really good quote the other day that reminded me to keep my feet planted on the ground in this whole process:

"In my twenties, I worried about what people thought of me. In my thirties, I stopped caring what people thought of me. In my forties, I realized that most people weren't thinking about me to begin with."

Good luck, breathe, and enjoy the process!

White is fine. It doesnt need to match your dress.
