Artificial flowers?!

Is this terrible?! I really want to do all my flowers myself and I feel like it would be easiest and a load cheaper if I just went with artificial flowers. Also I looove hydrangeas but they are such a sensitive flower. Do people really pay that close of attention, especially the ones used in centerpieces?!?

Re: Artificial flowers?!

  • Plenty of brides do this. I for one, have found it more expensive to get fake flowers that don't look like fake flowers, but others disagree. One thing that is unanimous is that getting flowers done by a florist will be the most expensive.

People won't notice or care that much, but if your flowers are submerged or in a tall vase they will almost definitely not notice. Just do a trail run if you are going to submerge them because the dye will sometimes bleed.
  • I am in the same boat, although I'm just doing the bouquets. I really love hydrangea, but when I first started looking at artificial, I was very disappointed.  They definitely looked fake and felt even worse.  Then I went to Hobby Lobby when they had 50% off sale.  They have 2 tiers of flowers: cheap, and the more expensive.  The more expensive ones actually look real, and feel much better as well!  At half off, and with the convenince of doing it in my own time and when I can afford it, it's definitely going to be worth it!

    Good luck!

I definitely agree with this statement.  A lot of times artificial flowers can cost the same, if not more, than real flowers.  I understand brides trying to save money by not using a florist but think of it this way...would you cook the food yourself even though you are not a chef?  would you DJ the reception yourself even though you wouldn't know how?  You probably wouldn't because you would want a professional doing it.  Well a florist is a professional.  I just couldn't imagine trying to make all the floral centerpieces and bouquets etc...that would be stressful especially if you have no idea what you are doing.  My suggestion is to figure out a budget and cost both out.  Talk with a florist and see what they can offer and then cost out silks and see if what you will get will beat what the florist can offer you.

  • I am doing fake flowers on my centerpieces, and I got them from hobby lobby! They are amazing! I love the store!

here is a link, most the time the floral is 50% off, my friend is using this exact flower and putting in ontop of a tall rectangular vase that is wrap with a damask ribbon so you can't even tell that it's not real! trust me noone will care if the flowers are fake or not!
