Photo Booth at reception

I have been interested in getting a photo booth for the reception.  Are there any positive or negative stories from your reception or one you've attended?  Does it distract from the other reception festivities?

  • Guests enjoyed the photobooth at our wedding.  I think it gave the non-dancers something to do.

I love the pictures of our guests - the first thing we did when we got back from our HM was go throught them!

  • I love when couples do this!!  I've usually seen the pictures put into a fun scrapbook with people leaving little notes and signing it, so it replaces the guestbook.  I've always seen it set up in the back of the room, and I would suggest having it closed off during dinner and speeches, and then opened up during the dance part of the evening.
  • We had one and our guests loved it.  It was well worth it for us.

The only drawback I've heard from people is if they set it up in the lobby, or outside of the main reception room.  Since there is often a line for it, if it's not in the actual room a lot of your guests go missing while waiting in line for it.  We had ours in the back of our ballroom, close to one of the bars.  We still had a full dance floor all night.  Since our cocktail hour was in the lobby, we didn't have ours open until dinner started, so right after the entrance and speeches.  Some people started going while waiting for their courses to be served.
