Dancing in a separate room??

Our reception venue is the top story of an old mansion-turned-restaurant. The space is basically a main foyer-esque area with a huge bar and a piano, then there are three rooms off of this. Everything is carpeted except one of the three rooms, which has hardwood flooring. I know no one will want to dance on carpet in the main area, but will it be awkward to have dancing in a specific room? The other two rooms will have small cocktail tables (it's a cocktail reception, not a full dinner) for people who'd like to sit and chat. Thanks for your advice!

  • That should work out fine. If there's enough space, you might want to put chairs or couches in or near the dancing room. Some people like to watch the dancing, even if they don't participate themselves.

  • It might be a little awkward or different, but will still work.

Unless there is someway to put the bar in the other room and have the dancing in the foyer area.
