Lemonade Bar...ideas?

Since we're getting married in the heat of July, we're going to do a lemonade bar for our guests (and little ones). I know I want to have flavored syrups and maybe sugar for sugar rims. Any other ideas for the lemonade itself or ideas on how to make this fun and a focal point? Thanks!

the lemonade bar is the focal point of the reception? i'm not being snarky but shouldn't you and dh the focal point? the lemonade bar is a cute idea-i'd have different fruits to put in-sliced figs, strawberries, blackberries instead of sugary syrups.  have unsweetened lemonade and let the guests add their own sugar. for the sugar rims you'll need something to wet the rims to begin with . you can use limes or watermelon or anyother flavored fruit that will go with lemonade flavor.

Ditto pp you and your DH should be the focal point, but as far as the lemonade bar goes, I think that's a great idea. Maybe have out different rimmers and syrups like you mentioned for the kids and the adults who don't want an alcoholic beverage and then also have out some Mike's Hard Lemonades and Lemon Drop Martinis for those that do want a drink. All of that sounds very yummy!

Check out Michael's or AC Moore: you can get huge martini glasses and then fill them with lemon drop candies (and then have them at the table) .  For the lemonade mix, I was at one party that added food coloring to the lemonade (doesn't change the flavor) to match the party decor.  You can provide flavored sryups (to make strawberry or raspberry lemonade) and have some alcoholic versions as well.

Ok, thanks! ....hmmm by focal point I guess I didn't mean that it was THE focal point of the reception...I just want people to see it and know that it's there. I don't want it to be just another punch bowl or drink option. I want people to have fun with it. Oh and yes, I understand that the wedding and reception are about us, not lemonade...

Fresh mint goes very well in lemonade.

I like the whole idea except the sugar rimms.  The sugar melts and sticky sugar water runs down the glass making the person's hands sticky, so they have to keep going to the bathroom to wash their hands so they don't mess up their nice clothes. 

Also, I would go with sweetened (when you add your own sugar to cold lemonade you just have clump of sugar in the bottom) and unsweetened (for those who don't like a lot of sugar or are diabetic).

Have a "cocktail station" set up next to the lemonade with:

Maraschino cherries

Lemon/Lime Slices, cut in half to stick on sides of glasses, or to add more than one to each

Fresh Strawberries/Raspberries (Strawberry Lemonade is sooo good!)

I agree with having one unsweetened lemonade and one sweetened lemonade

Big tub of ice or ice cooler to put in glasses

Sounds like a yummy refreshing idea!

Everyone else took my flavor ideas, but for a way to make the table stand out, you could have vases filled with lemons on the table to draw people's attention to it.
