How many people does a 48" round table seat?

I'm having 6 people per table, is 48" big enough to seat 6 comfortably?  I can also get 60" tables, but don't want people spread out too far!

A 48 inch tables seats 6 people.  You want to allow 24" of space per person.

I agree, 48 inch tables seat 6. However, we had 60 inch rounds and people are not "spread out too far". Everyone there could hear everyone else from across the table. A 60 inch table seats 8 comfortably, could seat 9-10 tightly.

I guess it's a matter of personal preference. However, the more tables you have, the more centerpieces, tablecloths needed.

PPs have it right.  48'' seats 6 people, a 60'' seats 8 comfortably and 9-10 if its crowded.
