Linen/Plastic Table clothes?

We are having a simple country reception. I am planning on the tables being white with a burlap runner and country decor mason jar/flowers etc.  Would it be ok to use the white plastic table cloth? Or should I find linen or some other whtie material. We are paying for this ourselves and would like it to be inexpensive but nice. Has anyone used cheap white material and made their own tableclothes? Any suggestions?

Re: Linen/Plastic Table clothes?

  • i wouldn't think any less of you for using plastic table cloths if it fits your reception.

you might be able to rent linens as well or get some at marshalls or homegoods etc... for cheap. how many do you need?

  • I think a burlap (fabric) runner would look odd with a plastic tablecloth.  If you don't want to rent and you are having rectangular tables, you can simply buy unbleached muslin and cut it to length for tablecloths.  Get it at Joann's with a coupon.  You want the tablecloth to hang at least 10" down from the edge of the table.
