Good Thursday Morning

Hello, Ladies! Oh, this time change is killing me. Another night of only 5 hrs of sleep. I'll be so happy to be back in my bed and curl up with Drew tomorrow night. At least, today's only a 10 hr day. Ha! What's everyone got going on today? Anything wedding related?

Re: Good Thursday Morning

  • Good morning Kimmy! Good luck on your long day.

I need to find a shower dress for my shower this weekend. I've already been to Target, Ross, Marshalls, Dress Barn, Dillards and Macy's and can't seem to find one that meets my mom's strict criteria (shoulder's covered, below the knee, and no cleavage) without it looking like a trash bag. Any suggestions on where I should look?

Tomorrow I'm going to be driving 9 hours to go to this shower. Definitely not looking forward to that drive. Then back on Sunday.

  • Kimmy - I hope you get some slep soon.  We don't want another knottie eating gum from the gym floor.

Nikki - My only advice is maybe look for a skirt and top instead of a dress.  Or very a cute pair of capris or something.

As for me I am at work until 5.  I am not sure what we are doing after.  We may go to a friends going away dinner.  As for wedding stuff I emailed a hair & MU person yesterday and they got back to me very quickly.  I am really interested in them, but I am hoping that they discount for it being a Thursday wedding.  We shall see though.  :)

  • I am working till 5, then going for a sushi date with one of my girlfriends from my cancer support group (love her, and haven't seen her in FAR too long). While I'm there FI is buying stuff to start playing with woodburning again. I guess he missed it and seeing all this stuff coming up on Etsy makes him want to go get the supplies lol

Kimmy- Good luck staying awake all day!

Nikki- I like Cathy's idea of a skirt and top, should help give you some definition.  Or if you find a sleeveless dress wear a cardigan over it, that's what I do for school.

Cathy- I hope they give you a deal!

Britt- Have fun seeing your friend!

Today I'm working then heading to the DMV with DH.  He needs to register the motorcycle and I need to change my name on my license and car.  I'm crossing my fingers that the line isn't long!  So far tomorrow I'm off so I'm hoping to get a few AHR things taken care of.  I need to find cute things to put the topping for the sundae bar in and I need to find holders for the camera cards.  Have a great day!

  • Good Morning!

Nikki - I also like the idea of a skirt and top.... have you tried the Limited?  I know they usually have things there that fit that criteria...

Today is my middle daughter's 10th bday!!  so after work I'm taking her out and she's getting a manicure and we are getting ice cream!  My son also has a baseball game, but FI and my brother are taking him and I will have to meet them there after my date with my daughter.

I'm falling WAY behind on wedding stuff so I really hope I can get my act together this weekend.

  • Cathy that made me laugh. But, it's too late. I already picked some abc gum off the bottom of my table...

  • I am off, today, so I'm going to CrossFit at 11am. Then going to a local fabric shop to scope out fabric for the flower girl dresses. I ordered some cute dresses off of someone on Etsy, but my flower girl entourage doubled from 3 to 6! So she only has enough fabric for 2, maybe 3. Now, I need to find another fabric to complement the fabric she already has (light pink paisley, really cute) or pick an entirely new fabric. I kinda want to mix and match since the bridesmaids are all going to be in different shades of blue, different styles, so it shouldn't look too bad if the flower girls all don't match, too, right? Any thoughts? Just as long as they are all uniform.

Anyway, then going to buy some groceries...I'm working this weekend. :( But, at least I have Memorial Day Weekend off! Woohoo!

Kimmy - I feel you on the time different thing! I was in NYC for nearly a week and still hadn't adjusted. It's because I kept reminding myself what time it was back home on the west coast!

Nikki - Hmm you covered a good amount of shops, already! Maybe Urban Outfitters? I found a cute white swiss dot dress there last year that I plan on wearing for my shower...whenever that is. Or maybe Forever 21? That's a long shot, but maybe you can buy a sleeveless dress then find a nice flowy, sheer top to go over it?

Cathy - Don't you love it when vendors get back to you quick?! It makes me feel like they can get the job done! Hehe.

Britt - We used to do sushi Thursdays pretty consistently, too! I love sushi...could have it everyday! Mmm...

Angela - Argh I hate the DMV! Did you try making an appointment? Sometimes that line goes pretty quick!

Jen - I feel like I'm falling behind, too, but with an impending move to a new place, I don't want to start just yet since I feel like if I do, I'll have to pack it all up when we move! So...gonna hold off and continue to feel even more behind! lol.

  • Thanks ladies. I have a skirt and tank top with short sleeve cardigan that I was planning on wearing to church on Sunday so I was trying to do something different for the shower, but that might be my only choice. I have such a hard time finding stuff below my knees instead of above it. When I lived with her back in the day I always made my skirts and I felt pretty frumpy so I threw them all away as soon as I could. Normally I just wear jeans to family events, but since it's at her church I feel like I need to wear the normal dress code.

Diana - How about using a solid pink on the top half of the dress and the print on the bottom half? What style are the dresses that you are making? I need pictures of the fabric and dress and I can find you something :)

Kimmy - Don't eat the gum!!!

Nikki, here is a photo of the dress from the Etsy seller. Any suggestions would be great! I like the idea of using a solid pink top and print on the bottom! Hmm...

Hard to see the detail, but it's very soft, not too loud. Love the lace since it plays off of my dress. Isn't it adorable?!!!

Diana- I don't think the one near us does appointments, but that would be a great idea.  Your flower girl dresses are so cute!

Aww I love that! It's a very soft pink. I thought it would be much louder than that. Let me think about it for a little bit and see if I can come up with anything.

What if you bleached this material? And by bleach I mean very lightly, like stick it in your washer on a quick wash with a 1/4 cup of bleach or something like that until you get the right color? If you did it that way, then I would suggest doing them all with the same piece of fabric rather than trying to match up the different ones.

There is also this solid pink that might look good with it if you want to do the girls half and half with that little bit at the very bottom tying them together. If she only makes that style of dress, then she probably wouldn't go for a different style (the top pink and the bottom print), .

Hopefully my ramblings made sense to you.

  • Nik-I'm not sure if you'll like this suggestion but I was just dragged to JC Penney's by my mom last weekend, pretty much kicking & screaming, and I was REALLY impressed and surprised by their dress selection.  I have never been impressed w/ Penney's in the past, and rolled my eyes when I struck out at many of the stores you mentioned.  I bought 5 dresses there & would have gotten more if I had more time.  Some of the dresses were for work, which pretty much fit the bill of what you're looking for.  Enjoy your shower this weekend!
  • I would agree with JC Penney! I have found a few cute things there, especially on sale!!! If there are spaghetti straps or no shoulder coverage you could always throw the cardigan over it.

Today I plan on finishing some laundry WOOO HOOO and getting my life organized. I was approved for all of my summer classes (they were all closed so I needed special permission) so I start on Monday. I'm kind of nervous about it, but I need to do well if I wanna get this ball rolling! Also, I found out that the application deadline for one of the programs is a whole month sooner, so I will finish just in time this summer!

<div>Thanks! Those are some great ideas! I've never bleached fabric before...have you done it?</div><div>
</div><div>I also think the other idea would be great, too. Have the other 1/2 of girls wear a solid pink to keep the same style but also be able to keep the uniformity.</div><div>
</div><div>Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely look into it! I didn't even think of those options ;P</div>

  • Alright, guess I'll try a trip to the mall and see if JCP, Forever 21 or Limited have anything. Thanks for the help.
