Bye bye ticker...

So we've officially come to a decision to cancel our DW in Savannah.  It just wasn't worth all the hassle our venue was giving us, and our budget wouldn't allow us to go back down for another scouting trip.  Surprisingly, I am OK with this decision.  I have been looking for unique venues in Chicago and have it narrowed down to 3 - an old mansion with GORGEOUS grounds, the zoo, and one of the sky boxes @ Wrigley Field.  FI and I will be doing quite a bit of talking tomorrow night when we go out to dinner for our (6 year) anniversary and hopefully we will be making our decision then.  Is it OK if I still stick around and live vicariously through you guys, and still participate in the KK?  The ladies here are SO amazing I just can't bring myself to leave, even though I'm not doing a DW anymore.

Re: Bye bye ticker...

  • Oh honey I'm so sorry you had to cancel your DW! Although I do think that's what your stupid reception venue deserved. I'm sending some ::vibes:: your way that you and FI can agree on planning a beautiful wedding at home. And of course you can stay!! You will always be welcome over here!
  • Oh, I'm so sorry.  All of your new location options sound fabulous!  GL and please don't leave us ;)
  • How cool that you might do it in a sky box at Wrigley!  FI would be so jealous of that!  I can't wait to see what you decide to do. Chicago is such an amazing city any of those locations should be beautiful.

  • Good luckk with your planning forbyour new wedding- it will be great, and we better hear all about it :)(cause you ain't goin anywhere!)
  • Sorry to hear about that!!!  But, you know for a fact that everyone will want you to stick around so we can be apart of your planning process even though you're not having a DW!!!!!  :)
  • Awe VIBES that you find your dream venue, I will not even mention to my season ticket holding FI that you may be doing the sky box at Wrigley... he would cancel our Cancun wedding today :)  PS- are you a Chicago Knottie??
  • I'm sorry to hear that =( But, if it saves you from going crazy then it's for the best. You better stick around and let us know how your planning is going =) And of course you can participate in the KK, you'll always be a DW bride at heart!
  • Oh Lisa I'm sorry :( Although I have to say you were a trooper for putting up with that venue for so long. The venues that you're considering in Chicago sound amazing though, and I know that your wedding will still be so lovely even if it wasn't what you had originally planned. Please stick around and hang out with us! We want to know all about your Chicago wedding plans too and of course you can still do the KK!And on a side note, happy anniversary!
  • Awww.... thanks for making me cry, ladies!  lol  DW knotties really ARE the best!Steffy, yes I'm a Chicago knottie.  I live not too far from O'Hare, although I was born & raised on the south side/south burbs.  I must admit, though - I'm not a huge Cubs fan, but that's the venue FI would pick if he got to choose.  He bleeds Cubbie blue. And thanks, Ali.  I'm not sure what we're doing tomorrow for our anniversary.  My mom is coming at 5:30 to watch dd.  This will only be the 4th time we've left her in her whole 2 years but I know we need this time together to figure things out.
  • Aww Lisa, of course you can stick around.  Please do in fact.  I'm glad to hear the decision you've made will cause some peace and that you're both happy about it.  I mean that is the most important thing after all.  GL in your continued planning process but definitely not goodbye.
  • Oh no! You were my date twin!!! I hope you stick with April 16th so we can still be together. Good luck with the planning and let us all know what you decide.
  • Sorry to hear about the difficulties with your venue in Savannah. I used to live in chicago and worked as an event/wedding coordinator. Cafe Brauer at Lincoln Park Zoo was always a really really popular choice! Were you looking into Lincoln Park Zoo or the other one that's outside of the city? I believe that LPZ used to be really affordable, especially since it is a free zoo and they depend on public donations. Which Mansion were you looking into? be careful when looking into the sky boxes at Wrigley. If you do it during their season prices will be higher and you could get stuck with obnoxious drunk Cub's fans (I know, I am one of them!! haha!!) and if you do it out of season it might not have the same effect. Double check that you like the venue as is and empty! Good luck and please feel free to message me if you have any questions or would like some suggestions!!
  • Lincoln Park Zoo/Cafe Brauer has gotten CRAZY expensive!  It's WAY out of our budget - we'd be saving until 2014. lol  The Wrigley venue only hosts events on non-game days but has AWESOME views - wish I knew how to post PIP's!  Plus, they will put your name on the red marquee outside, which would drive FI NUTS if/when he saw it!  (I'd keep that one as a surprise.) Here's a link to the mansion.  We'd end up having to do a brunch because their minimums are pretty high on weekend nights, but it's GORGEOUS!http://tinyurl.com/mo9wnl
  • Awe I live not far from O'Hare (NW Burbs) too!!  We should have a Knottie GTG :)
