Destination wedding worries

hi ladiesAnother question for you ladies! do you ladies mind sharing with me your reasons for a destination. all i am excited about my upcoming destination wedding (sandals in St. Lucia) i feel i made the decision out of stress. also i feel bad for my fiance because as of now it looks like all but 1 of his GM will be attending and my BM are giving me the run around. also guest including immediate family dont kno if they will come. i kno the wedding all about us but wedding once in lifetime! any advice!

Hello there I am a nestie now, just coming by to say hello. When I started planning our DW, I got lots of pushback from my side, so I felt like you. At the end, many of those that pushed back did not come, and those that were there just joined the party, and had a great time. When we got to the point of the wedding, all that drama was so far away from our minds, that it was just no even there. No one will think less of you because your side is pushing back more. DH's family and friends were 3/4 of our entire wedding. But we had such a wonderful time, and were happy with those that were able to join us. I hope this helps a little. GL!

HI! I'm also getting married in Sandals in St. Lucia (yay us!) I just thought it was a beautiful location for a beautiful day! We're eloping so we wont have any guests and at first I was a little sad about not having people there but I'm just glad to have the wedding in my dreams in such a wonderful place. hi joey-wifeyes we booked for may 9-16 2010. wedding day May 13,2010. what resort will u be at!... and yes that is why i picked it was well such a beautiful island. i am nervous but very excited. congrats to u. what ur wedding date!

Sandals Grande but we can go to all three. Very cool. I'm getting married April 29th, 2010. Will be there from Apr. 27- May 3rd. So when I'm leaving, you'll be arriving. I'm very excited been buying stuff little by little. Although because they do most of the work, I'm not sure what I should do. lol Have you bought your dress? What have you done so far? I did buy a strapless bathing suit so I wont get weird tan lines before the wedding.

boo we will just be missing each other but any way  i have not brought my dress. i should have did like u and just eloped cuz i still a little stressed but not as much as when i doing home. i havent done anything but i will by things little by little as well. i want to do the sand ceremony so i am going to bring my own materials. i am bit clueless but learning as i go

I found that The Knot Guide To Destination Weddings was really helpful. I got it at the library and the ladies on this board know what they're doing and they're the nicest group of ladies ever! I was initially gonna do a backyard wedding but had some drama so we ended up saying "F it" and we're eloping. We're gonna have a post wedding party when we get home. Gonna do margaritas and give it a tropical feel. What really makes me sad is that my kids arent going to be there but then it wouldn't be much of a honeymoon with my four rugrats there. Plus, I'm with them 24/7 so everyone needs a break once in a while. Are you doing the free wedding or are you doing one of their themed weddings? Someone once said that she just went with all her guests to a restaurant (since its all-inclusive) and that they were real accomodating. Do you have any dresses that you like? Mine is the Enzoani Ariel but wanna find something more casual for later on that night.

hey we were doing the free wedding but according to my fsil that's not good enough n she wants to pay for the signature wedding so we will see. i am going to look into that book. as far as the dinner i heard from the fb group sandal weddingmoons that its hard to get reservation for a group. are u on FB that is a great group to join if u are they are really helpful... i went dress shopping once with my fmil and that was the worse i felt like a fat cow... but i'll kno what dress is right 4 me when i put it on! but i do like the one shoulder strap gowns... we had alot of drama here as well $$ being the key factor 2 the switch of a DW. i dont have kids but understand how u feel b/c i have a lil sister who i want part of my wedding but just like u we will b having a celebration when we get back

Girl, just go for it. Stick with the dw. I was unsure at first because I was afraid I would be missing out on all the first time "big day" stuff, but now....I'm so excited. I'm going to marry my best friend in 8 months on a beautiful beach in Jamaica to the sounds of the steel drum, what could be more perfect?

We're doing the free wedding. Girl, I went by myself dress shopping. I don't really hang with anyone. I'm from Jerz but live in NY now. I went to two places for dresses but I knew "the one" as soon as I saw it in the first place. I LOVE the one shoulder dresses... so nice! Good luck on finding your dress. I think its fun playing dress up.

 thats funny i live in ny as well... where did u go?... n ur good i dont think i could have went by myself. i really dont hang out with anyone as well. its just me and hubby to be. so u found ur dress already?@ JSBB2010 ur so right... where is ur DW... congrats

I went to Bijou in Paramus, NJ on 17 and to Lavinia's Bridal in Garnerville, NY. Bijou was great but expensive, that's where I found my dream dress BUT could not afford it so I had someone make somethin similar. Its the Enzoani Ariel (2006 Collection). Lavinia's was not so great. She didn't help out much and the dresses were so-so. Then, she had an opportunity to redeem herself because she was gonna see if she could get the Enzoani Ariel... she never called me back. I called her twice and nothing!

Joey's Wife: Hi! I was reading your post and noticed you have children but your eloping? We have 2 children too and were having our wedding destination without them also. I feel sooo bad. How'd you cope with it? Were only having my father and his fiance with us. Than when we get back, were having a recept. My 6 year old is so sad that were not bringing them...:-(
