BC?

Hey ladies! Happy Sunday, I can't believe it is already almost over :( I have a question. Like Alaskan Allison has said in the every girl is different for birth control. But I would like any ones opinions for the IUD any ways. I have been on the Patch for about 6 1/2 years and I know how terrible it is for me. I am starting to getting pressure from ffi to change. So I tried switching to Yaz about 4 or 6 months ago. I was on it for 1 month and was CRAZY!!! I mean, get in a fight every night over nothing, pissed off at everyone at work(with a brand new job) wanting to kill myself crazy!! I'm pretty sure every night ended with my telling Joey to f-off and wear a condom and it wouldn't be a problem. I know real mature. I have an appointment for the IUD in a few weeks and would like to know if anyone who has it noticed much of a change in mood from their other bcs. I think I was so effected from Yaz, because it is low-dose and the Patch is HIGh does. My dr. said it is like 3 times the recommended amount on estrogen a day. TIA for any info :)

Re: BC?

  • I've never looked into an IUD but from what I understand it's not recommended for people who haven't had children and those who want to TTC in a few years. I don't know if you're in either of those categories. I'm on Seasonale and I love it. My only issue is with the weight I gained. It would've been less, but I also stopped playing soccer and started eating a lot of crap. I'm really only moody when I'm PMSing, which is only every three months. That's just my experience w/ it.
  • I'm not personally using an IUD, but my best friend is. She loves it, for the first couple of months she was having light spotting, but now everything is normal. Also, IUD technology has come a long way and a lot of the bad side effects from the past IUD's no longer occur. But I have been told if you think you will TTC in the next few years it's not the best choice.
  • I am on paragard, 10 years hormone free, baby free :) And I am loving it!! (the first few months, where a bit rocky but in the end it was totally worth it, I  have never been pregnant and will TTC in less than 2 years and have been assured that I have better odds of getting pregnant than someone going off BC pills) I would suggest you check out IUD Divas on live journal, its a really great site for anyone thinking about making the switch!
  • I guess I should have mentioned I made the switch bc after 6 years on the pill and the patch I too had some major mood swings.. If you have any more questions feel free to email me. Marci17154 @ aol com
  • Personally, I love the pill and have been on it for 12 years but a few of my friends have IUD and they are very happy with it.  FYI, I was on a low estrogen pill once and it made me CRAZY too.  Same thing happened to a good friend of mine.
