A newbie on board

Hi ladies,Just wanted to take a mo' to introduce myself. Future Mrs. Mormand, an ex-pat in France, which is where we'll be getting married, so it'll be a destination wedding for those who are States-side! Planning on a July 2011 wedding. I've got a lot of ideas for the big day, but right now I'm just trying to get a sense of the myriad of abbreviations that are in use on Wedding forums!TTYS ;)*m*

Re: A newbie on board

  • Good morning and welcome to the board. Future Mrs. H is getting married in France as well. She also has a great list of the board abbreviations in her profile. The ladies here are great and if you have any questions just ask :-)
  • Congrats and welcome! A wedding in France sounds beautiful!
  • Welcome :)By the way, my fiance is still making fun of "STDs". The joke of "You want to give our guests STDs?" is still very much fresh in his mind.France - how romantic :)
  • Yay! Another France Bride! Welcome to the Board! On my Bio under The Good Knottie Guide there are a bunch of abreviations comonly used in this board and some other info that can be really helpful to you. Where in France is your wedding gonna be at? Happy Planning!
  • Hello and welcome to the board!! :-)
  • France! That is so cool. Congrats! OMG and I just saw that you are a knitter (on your bio)? Im am so obsessed with knitting. Are you on Ravelry?
  • Congrats - a France wedding sounds gorgeous! Welcome to the board!
  • Hi and welcome to the board!! You have come to the right place, everyone here is so helpful and supportive!! Happy Planning :)
  • Bon jour and welcome!  Enjoy your time on the best board on The Knot!
  • OMG thats such a cute idea, for the felting. I have been thinking about what I could knit for the wedding... lol. I havent really thought of anything good. I was thinking a shrug/shawl, but um, definitely wont need it in the Virgin Islands!!!
  • LOL yeah, it's hard to think of what you can knit for a summer/tropical destination wedding! It'd be a different story if we were doing this somewhere cold! Martha stewart weddings had a super-simple idea for a ring-bearer pillow. Theirs was made to be extra cosy for a winter wedding but I'm going to summerize it:*Take 2 squares of fabric that you like a bit bigger the size you want the pillow to be. Sew together right side in, turn inside out, stuff with batting or whatever and stitch closed. * knit a square that fits the surface of 1 side of the pillow and sew it onto the pillow (I'll likely use a summer thread from my stash, like linen, cotton or bamboo). * add a strip of ribbon to tie the rings on and taadaa!Plus this is like the easiest damn knitting project - you're basically knitting a swatch so you can do it in whatever stitch you want!I also saw a friend's sister crochet all the flowers for her BP bouquets! that was pretty intense!xoxo*m*
