Wedding Shower

Is it rude to have a wedding shower when you are having a destination wedding and the guest wont be going?

Re: Wedding Shower

 • My thoughts:   it's fine as long as they are invited.  I've attended showers when I had to decline the wedding invite.  I think it's the same.
 • No, it's not rude. This topic comes up on here all the time. The way I personally feel about it is that a DW is still a wedding, you are still a bride, and you deserve to celebrate. Plus a shower is typically thrown in honor of you, so you aren't actually throwing your own shower, someone else is doing it for you. If your guests have a problem with celebrating in honor of your upcoming wedding, then that makes them look bad, not you.
 • I think it's fine to have a shower as long as the people you're inviting to the shower are also invited to the wedding and/or the AHR.
 • Every guest at both of my showers had an invitation to something... either the wedding in maui or the reception in october. :-)
