Dress decisions

O.k. I just tried to con my FI into telling me what he has pictured in his mind of my wedding dress. It didn't work. I just would like a little direction so I at least pick something in mind that he will like. I asked " long and flowy?" He said, "I'm not talking to you about dresses, that's your decision". I asked him if he had an  opinion and he said sure I do but I'm not telling you! Great! I just want a little advise and he is not helping. Did your men help or give you girls any ideas? I know he will like whatever I get, yada, yada, but really I want to know a small discription!

Re: Dress decisions

  • Jenn, you know me and Brian...... so, naturally, he was with me at one of my dress shopping excursions.... and amazingly enough, he was there when I bought my dress!  :)  He knows what the dress looks like, but he doesn't know what I look like in the dress.... plus, he hasn't seen it since that day, so I'm sure he'll forget what it even looks like! Nonetheless, he did like what he saw!!  And, I'm glad he was with me that day!  :)
  • Mine wanted to see the pics my mom sent me of me in some dresses. I refused. Then when I show him any pics online of dresses he says, "Pretty!" Totally different styles - same answer. Then I showed him one yesterday that was all heavy silk, ball gown, corset top (which is somewhat like one of the ones I liked but won't wear b/c I'd sweat my butt off all night), thinking he'll say "Pretty!" and instead he says "Ugh - way too big for the beach!" Mixed messages much?? Now I'm like, does this mean that he thinks a more formal dress won't work on the beach? B/c, frankly, if I fall in love with a more formal dress (that doesn't make me sweat my butt off), I'm damnn well getting it - beach wedding or no beach wedding.
  • As others have said, find a dress that makes you feel good. That will make you look awesome, and he will love the dress because of the whole package. Guys do not look at dresses the way we do, and think, oh, that has an empire waist, I wouldn't wear that. The only thing mine was worried about was that all the dresses seemed to be strapless in the books, and he was worried about me being uncomfortable all day. Guess what, I went for a strapless dress, but wound up buying a halter, because it looked better on me...
  • Lol i was in the same situation - i asked FI to give me some opinions on the dresses, but all he said was "get what you want". Honestly, he has never commented on anything I wear (except to say i look nice), so i doubt he would really care. Like other people said, guys dont have memory for that kind of stuff, or think about it at any point during the day. So whatever you wear, he will LOVE!
  • Thanks girls, I guess I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and go try them on. I think I"m the only one getting married in April that doesn't already have a dress. I guess that's why I'm stressing about it.
