NWR: Job #2

So - on Thursday - the Cincinnati Zoo posted on their facebook page that they desperately needed Admissions staff to start immediately. I applied, got a call back the same day.

Had the phone interview today, went very well, I explained to the interviewer about all my pre-planned summer obligations (the two week practicum, honeymoon, my cousin's wedding) and he said that was not a problem at all and that  he really appreciated me mentioning it before being hired though.

In-person interview is tomorrow at 4:00pm. He said I pretty much have the job - as long as everything goes well tomorrow (as in as long as i'm not a mean old slob, i guess?)

So..wish me luck.

It sounds like a cool position. It is both selling tickets/ticket packages at the zoo - as well as scanning the tickets at the front gate.

I don't know - but I would think they'd give free admission to employees as a perk.

It's a nice zoo - I've always loved it. We wanted to have our wedding and reception there - but the freakin' people were the worst to get ahold of..and meet with - so we said screw it.

If you love the Cincinnati Zoo, you totally need to see Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo. It is PHENOMENAL.

<div>You didn't miss it, I didn't post it because I still feel too grumpy about it, but I came in 'very close second'. They let me know over email, and they said that the final decision still has to be made by the board, but as far as I know they always confirm the advice that the interviewing committee makes. So, here I am, soon to be jobless and no idea about what I want to do next :). </div>

Ouch. :-\ That's lame..and burns even more to hear that "very close second".

Hopefully something better will come along. That's what happened for me..the amusement park is about 35 minutes away from me..the Zoo is about ten...so way less gas, more pay, and better hours (The zoo closes at 5:00..the amusement park at 11:00). But we'll see if I get the zoo job. heading there in twenty minutes.

I know it usually works like that, you miss one thing because something better's around the corner... But I'm afraid that this time, there's disturbingly little around any corner. Ugh.

They even test you for nicotine - and won't hire smokers.
