photographers

i know pricing might be specific to where you are getting married.. but im curious to what you guys are paying and what that includes? also - are you getting prints w/ your package? i feel like alot of what i see is digital - you get the pics on cd but its up to you to print them out.

Re: photographers

  • Photography has been a point of concern for me. We're stuck with the photographer that the hotel contracts with unless I want to bring my own. I actually considered that, but found out it's about $1000-$1500 over my budget so that's a no-go! So to answer your question...I'm paying $1700 for 4 hrs of photography and all the rights to the images (on a CD). I have to print them. To be honest, I think that's obscene, but I'm obligated to use them since I have a contract w/ the hotel. I'm sure the pics will be fine, but if I were to get married locally and use a local photog I'd get 7-8 hrs of work for about $1800-2000 and that would include prints. Anyway, maybe that will help. Oh, and I'm getting married in St. Thomas.
  • I'm flying in my photog & her assistant. I am only paying for their travel expenses though. I spent about $2700 for both of their flights, their room, & food. BUT they are staying for an entire week in Aruba (it was actually cheaper to do it this way). I'm getting 2 photogs; full day coverage, the day of the wedding, including our civil ceremony in the morning; a TTD session.; and all of our images on disc. I could have added an album & prints and just paid for those items, but being a photog myself, I opted to take the CD and do what I want with my images.$2700 is a good chunk of change, but the only photog that I found in Aruba that was decent charged $3k as his starting package and I didn't even think his photos were all that great!Look around! A lot of photogs are willing to work for free in exchange for travel expenses. Just gotta do your research!
  • We're getting married in Key Largo. I found our photographer on the Miami Craig's List Events page . She charges $250 an hour plus $300 in travel fees. She doesn't do print packages, but we get the rights to all of our digital photos. We booked her for 4 hours, and I'm considering doing another hour with her the next day for a TTD session.
  • hmmm -- good answers. i guess what im seeing and considering is in the ball park - regardless of where i am going.  interesting that some of you guys are flying someone in.. i don't have a photog. that i know or love around here so i haven't even considered it. thanks for the input!
