Seems to be a dress day...POLL

I have not started looking at dresses yet, but will probably start in Novemeber after my MX trip.  So, how much did/are you budgeting for your dress?!  FI and I haven't talked budget for the wedding yet, I have a number in my head, but he is in the process of finding a new job so we will wait and see what kind of difference in pay he will have.  Also, if you could start sending those knottie vibes to him for his interview Thursday the our household would appreciate it :)

  • I gave myself a budget of $1,000 and ended up spending $800. The problem is now I am going to have serious alterations, which will push me above my budget.
  • For me, I would like to keep the dress and alterations under $500.  I know I can do it if I try and make sure my girls dont' let me make impulse buys :)  I also plan on getting in the ocean with my dress and only wearing it again at our brides party we will be having after our wedding.  A bride party, incase you are wondering, is where everyone wears there wedding dress and we drink and party :)

  • I budgeted $1000 for my dress and ended up spending a little over $500.  Luckily I didn't need any alterations so I used the excess money to buy an insanely expensive pair of shoes!  :)

  • I budgeted $500 because I refused to spend more than that in something I will only wear once. My dress was $99 and the alterations are $160, so I'm very happy about that :-)And...**Knottie Vibes** for that interview.
  • I'm budgeting $1000.00 as well. That should include alteration as well.  I plan on dress shopping in December so we'll see what I come up with.  I'm nervous that I won't love any dress that is in my price range but I know I'm being crazy because their are so many gorgeous dress out there.
  • My very gracious mother bought my dress and told me I had a budget of $1000. I think my dress ended up costing $860. I still have to do alterations though, but those I'm paying for myself.
  • Hmm, well so far I'm the only one who sucked at dress budgeting.  I wanted to keep it under $1000 for the dress and alterations.  I spent $1300 on the dress and alterations are another $550!!!  In my defense I loved the dress when I first saw it but it was $2300 and just WAY too much.  Then I found it as a sample and couldn't pass it up.
  •  I did a lot of looking online first, since I had no idea how much to budget.  Everything I liked was around $500, so I gave myself $650.  My dress was on sale for $450, but I haven't done alterations yet.  Hemming can't be that expensive can it?~ ~ VIBES ~ ~  for the best interview ever.  Good luck!
  • I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a dress that I'm only going to wear once (i'd rather spend an extra few nights in Hawaii) but, I got a great deal on my dress and got it on sale for $210 =) Lots of ::vibes:: that your FI has a great interview Thursday!
  • I budgeted $1,000 for all bridal attire. I spent $800 on the dress plus $100 for aletrations $50 hairflower and veil $50 on shoes $105 on jewelry $35 undergarmentss. I was over by $140. So not bad.
  • I went dress shopping without a particular budget in mind (bad I know)- I just wanted to try on different styles and see what type of prices the dresses were.I promised myself not to spend over $1000 on it.  All the dresses I tried on ranged from 500-1000, I ended up liking two that were both about $800.  I picked the Maggie Sottero design and the cost was $800 (I was able to order it 3 inchs shorter in the hemline so hopefully that will help save in alterations, we'll see if it's too long when it comes in- it may be just perfect with that length).  Still have to do a bustle.  It's a corsett (sp?) backing so unless I loose or gain a ton of weight (my wt loss goal for the wedding is 10 lbs), I should be fine on that!  I doubt alterations will run me more than $200.
  • I originally was planning to spend about $500 - I couldn't see paying more than that for a dress I'd wear once. ...Then I fell in love with a dress that was completely out of my range ($6000 out, actually). I knew the only way to have this dress was to buy it secondhand. I searched and searched for months and finally found it in my size, even. My ending price was $2000 plus a little for hemline alterations.
  • OMG 1000.... Are ya trying to give me a heart attack! I agree with you Normailed, I can't see myself spending so much on a dress I'll only wear once. (I shjouldn't say never) but I'm budgeting for 500 tops. Please Lord let it be that way! Interview ::::Vibes:::: !
