Tips from a former Knottie

This was posted on my local board and I thought some of you may get a kick out of this. I don't necessarily agree with some of it, but it's worth reading and some of it makes sense. :) http://www.jennifermendelsohn.com/sullatips.htm

Re: Tips from a former Knottie

• That was a good read. Thanks!I just past it on to 2 of my friends who are also getting married...hopefully they won't go thru as much planning stress & drama as I have!
• Great read!  Thanks for posting Shelli, she made a lot of good points!
• Thanks Shelli - this was a good read. Although i can see how some people won't agree about her point of view about photography. To be honest though, i think she missed one huge part. The stress that comes with planning a wedding usually does not come from "what colour linens should i pick". Of course people ask these questions but its not "stress". The most stress i have experienced so far was having to do with our families. And there is no perfect solution or answer to deal with those. They know you in and out, and know exactly what to say to you to set you off. I guess she could've written a whole book just about that part..
• I agree Iris! My stress has had nothing to do with being "matchy matchy" and everything to do with family & other people's opinions getting in the way!
• That was a good read and a gentle reminder about what's really important. And although I may obsess over the matching fonts and perfectly timed wedding day the guests very well may not! It is really about the celebration. Thanks Shelli!
• I feel like I've already started trying to focus on what really matters. Most of what I read about or look at is something that I think, Hm that's really pretty but I don't need/love it and I think it'd stress me out more if I did it than if I didn't. Plus, I already know I'm not a DIY-er. I'm happy to pick a few small things that I want done by hand, and I'm happy to pay an etsy seller to make them for me. Instead, I keep thinking about what I want the ceremony and reception to be like - fun and memorable - and I try to really think about whether what I'm doing fits with that. Carrie
