My Mother’s side of the family is English, and we have a tradition “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue and a sixpence in your shoe”. My grandmother has been saving my sixpence since the day I was born and refused to give it to me until the day I got married. On the wedding day she couldn’t remember what happened to it, so I didn’t get to use it. And my “Something Borrowed” was my great grandmother’s engagement ring (who we are going to name our daughter after). My mom is super weird about this ring, and also refused to give it to me until the wedding day and then forgot to give it to me all together- I’m not really sure what the stipulations are in screwing up this superstition- I hope our kids don’t have 3 legs. Having 6 kids involved in a wedding always brings chaos, and for some reason my nephews were extra naughty on the wedding day. The boat crew kept coming up to my dad and saying someone has to watch this child or how’s going overboard. My Niece also felt the need to blow out all the candles at the head table. My drunk wedding party set a table cloth of fire, but it was put out quickly, before the rest of the table burned up. For some reason DH didn’t eat all before the ceremony so by the time we were doing pics on the beach at 530pm he was a grumpy mess. He just got too tired and wouldn’t take anymore pictures, so we really didn’t get too many on the beach of just us that day. In the opposite direction, one of my ceremony readers would get out of every picture. She had to be removed from a few of the pictures of me and my parents, when we were trying to do family shots. The same reader ended up drinking way too much and showed up at my parents hotel room 3 times throughout the night crying and woke up in the parking lot the next morning. The Limo driver also forgot to Pick up the BM’s and myself after the pictures, so we stood around waiting for 30 min while he drove back to town to take us to the other boat. I guess these could all easily go in the funny as they were not disasters
