Curious...Poll!

O.k. after looking at all the answers from the Humpday Poll I'm curious....How many of the brides here met their DF online somehow??? I'm interested in your stories.

Re: Curious...Poll!

  • match.com, I was sort of over doing the online dating thing but my friend liked his car (google stalking) and said if we got together maybe she could ride in it. I went to appease her but then 3 minutes in I knew I liked him :)
  • FI & I met on match.com  I had pretty much had it, but then I got an email from FI and he seemed different, so I gave him a chance.  Good thing too :).
  • Well... technically we met in person... but if it wasn't for Facebook we probably wouldn't have talked much after the drunken bar night! We wall flirted for a couple of weeks before we hung out in person again :-)
  • Ironically enough Sean and I were both on match and had looked at each others profiles and rejected them!  We thought we were too different.  We then happened to meet at one of his shows (he was in a band) and hit it off immediately!

  • My FI and I met on a social networking site called blackplanet.com...a few years ago before MySpace and Facebook were big. We talked off and on during that time and it was super casual. It took us a few years to actually meet up in person, not really sure why...but it all fell into place pretty much immediately after we met in person.
  • FI sent me a message on myspace, while he was drunk messaging. He said something about the song on my profile and I answer back just because it was a very incocent question (I was not interested in a relationship). We met, bacame friends and about 4 months later we were officially dating.
  • My FI and I technically met on eHarmony.  When we finally met in person (his photo was too far away for me to really see his face) he turned out to be the guy who works in my building whom I had been obsessing over at Starbucks every morning for 8 months...so he's the "starbucks guy"...and everyone is getting a Starbucks card in their bags :-)
  • Fi and I met on myspace.  I sent me a message and told me I was beautiful.... it was cheesy but I responded by saying thank you.  He replied back and that's how we started talking for a couple of months then he asked me out on a date and we started dating after that. I think that it helped us a lot talking online and over the phone before we actually went on a date because we knew more about each other and we liked what we had so far.
  • Merhou, love that story! :)
  • cupid.com.  He said he emailed me three times before I responded, but I don't remember that.  Funny thing is we have probably crossed paths at least half a dozen times over the years before we finally met.

  • OMG Merhou!! What a great story!!!!!!
  • I met my FI on match.com also. My bff was like "just sign up, it will be fun! you never know who you will meet." And I'm thinking - yeah, a stalker. LOL. I wasn't into it at all and ignored most people that would email me anyway, but then Ted emailed me and there was just something about him, I wanted to know him. We emailed a few times, exchanged IM names, then exchanged phone #s and talked for like a week, went on our first date and the rest is history! We both deleted our match accounts after dating for only a couple weeks. We were "officially" a couple after about a month, and here we are 17 months later planning our wedding!! It's crazy how things happen sometimes.
  • I met FI in the Chicago chat room on aol.  I was new to the north side and looking for ideas of fun things to do.  My question was met with snide comments and FI sent me an IM to tell me he liked the way I handled the attitudes and put people in their places.  We chatted for a few months before he asked for my number.  We talked every day once he got the courage to use it.  lol  I thought he was a nice guy, but had no desire to meet anyone from the internet - I had heard too many horror stories and pictured my lifeless body in a ditch somewhere.  One day, he called me on his way home from a hard day at work and said "I really, really, really, really, really would like to see you tonight."  I'm kind of a smart ace so I was thinking to myself "Gee, if he had only said 'really' one more time I would have said yes."  Out of nowhere, in the silence, I heard him whisper "really" so I took it as a sign and went.  I can't tell you what made me go, just like I can't tell you what posessed me to agree to spend the night that night... while he was a perfect gentleman and slept on the couch.  (And no, nothing happened.  lol)  I can't tell you what drew me to him and I still can't explain how I fell so hard so fast for him, but we've been inseperable ever since the first time we laid eyes on each other.
  • I met my FI on match.com after I was rejected from eharmony.com.  I was in the process of divorcing my cheating ex-husband at the time and was rejected from eharmony because I wasn't fully divorced yet (it pays in the long run to be honest) - after answering the 800 questions, they directed me to a marriage counseling website! lol  No thanks.....I think we went out on our first date 5 days after we met online and were inseperable since then.  He proposed in Paris a year and a half later and a year after that we are getting hitched in Mexico!
  • Mike sent me the first message on plenty of fish.com and when I saw "canucks" in his user name I was hooked.  I'm a huge fan.  We talked constantly on msn for days and then we met at starbucks.  It was my sisters birthday that day and I only intended on being at the coffee shop for 30-60 minutes, but ended up staying two and a half hours!!  I was killer late for my sisters birthday and she was super pissed.  But I sooo fell in love that day (or shortly after :)
