Seating arrangements

I am questioning if I need to do a seating arrangement at our reception in Cancun. We are only expecting about 30 people max. What I was thinking about doing instead of a formal seating arrangement is just getting place cards for the bridal party & parents. What do you think?

Re: Seating arrangements

  • I am thinking the same thing..Really it will be so intimate do we really need that?  Better to be prepared in case..but I will probably forgo all except the main pp.

  • I am definitely doing a seating chart...  then again, it takes us 5 minutes to figure out seating for Sunday night dinner with only 7 of us...  I think my guests will like not having to think about where to sit.  I am just doing namecards at each place - it will give everyone an opportunity to walk around the tables and see the centerpieces.
  • I'm not doing one.  We have 29 guests coming and I don't think it's necessary.
  • I am definitely doing a seating arrangement...  we have issues :)  We are having about 50 people, first off.  Secondly, FI's dad and mom divorced many moons ago and it was nasty - and still is.  Definitely putting them on opposite sides of the lawn.  Plus there is one table of peeps that will definitely drink but can't walk to the bar very well and there will be one table that won't drink at all (minus my dad who will be happy to walk as far away from the table as possible to go to the bar)  :)  LOL!!!

  • I'm definately having a seating chart... we have issues too haha 2 of my Fbil's wives can't stand my fils, so they need to sit on the opposite side of fi's family.  And we want fi's guests to get to know my guests, etc.  We're having about 40 guests but we'll be doing a seating chart. If you don't have family drama then you can go without a seating chart.  I didn't want to have a seating chart, just let everyone sit where they want but in our situation we have too :o(
  • Sarah, I had the same question awhile back, but ended up making placecards and a seating arrangement. I figured it would just be easier to tell people where to sit.We are only having about 36 people at our reception in Aruba.
  • We are at 32 ppl so far and are doing a seating chart. Just makes it easier to keep the separate groups together and no one has to fight for the table closest to the bridal party.
  • Thanks for the input ladies! :)I am still not 100% for having a seating chart vs. not having one. Don't know what I'm going to do. I don't see the need for one with only 30 people max, but I also don't want our guests to be all confused or wondering where they should sit. I will probably just end up doing one. Luckily those decisions won't need to made for a while because (1) all the RSVP's aren't back yet (2) don't know what size/amount of table there will be yet.
