With Halloween coming up in a couple of weeks, I've got the holiday season on my mind big time.  So here's a holiday poll for ya!What is your favorite holiday, and why?What do you dislike about the holidays?How do you and your FI/DH split your time between families?What is your favorite Halloween costume?  (I need ideas, hehehe!)

What is your favorite holiday, and why? I love Thanksgiving!  It's the one day of the year I actually allow myself to eat so much I have to loosen my belt.  What do you dislike about the holidays?  I hate all the preparation that goes into them.  It feels like it takes weeks to prep for one day.How do you and your FI/DH split your time between families?  Since we live kind of far from my family and close to his, we spend the holidays with my family.  We can see his anytime.What is your favorite Halloween costume? (I need ideas, hehehe!) My favorite costume I ever wore was a sexy pirate costume.  My mom made a short skirt and a white top, and them I had knee boots and some costume jewelery, very sexy.

My answers: What is your favorite holiday, and why?I really get into the holiday spirit for all of them, but Christmas is my fave.  I love the decorations, the smells, the feeling of community and giving, I love it all!What do you dislike about the holidays?Rushing around!  I have a big family, so it's hard to squeeze everyone in for the big holidays and make sure that no side feels slighted.How do you and your FI/DH split your time between families?We haven't quite figured this one out yet.  Somehow we ended up seeing his family on both Thanksgiving AND Christmas (they live far away), and I was a little POed about that.  This year we're staying here with my fam!What is your favorite Halloween costume?A really dorky one some of my friends did one year was "Gangrene", but you had to think "Gang Green".  We dressed up as gang members but wore all green.  Lame, but it was funny.

What is your favorite holiday, and why?My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving because I love fall cooking!What do you dislike about the holidays?I dislike the emphasis on consumerism and think it's ridiculous that people were trampled to death on Black Friday last year.  I like getting presents for people but I don't think it has to be some mad frenzy.How do you and your FI/DH split your time between families?We spend our holidays with each other relaxing because travel is limited by his work schedule. What is your favorite Halloween costume? (I need ideas, hehehe!)The residents of Chapel Hill maximize their creativity for Halloween; last year I saw a whole group of people as Tetris shapes.

I know I'm not a knottie anymore but I miss being here, so I'm participating... What is your favorite holiday, and why? My favorite holiday is definitely Christmas/Eve.  I LOVE when I'm with my DH, mommy, daddy, brother's family (especially his kids) and everyone is all cheery.  I love the colors and the warm glows that seem to come from everywhere.  I love the fireplace and just the sheer ambiance of it all.  Mostly, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the feast of fish my family does traditionally on the Eve.  It's an Italian thing... and our night always ends in broiled, buttery stuffed lobstertails.  MmmmMMmmMmMWhat do you dislike about the holidays? I can't stand the pressure of buying Christmas presents and shopping like maniacs.  I can't stand the financial hardships of the time and the strain it puts on your wallet.  I HATE having to do the walk around the Greek church (DH's church) at midnight on Easter because it's always so cold outside still.How do you and your FI/DH split your time between families?  Thanksgiving is now at our house everyyear and everyone's invited (although I think it's just going to be my family that comes this year).  Christmas Eve we're at my parents and wake up there Christmas morning.  Christmas afternoon we drive home to DH's relatives.  Greek Easter and my Easter fall on different weekends (except for every 4th year) so we're able to spend them with both families.What is your favorite Halloween costume? Call me a tranny lover, but I LOVE seeing men dressed as women for Halloween.  Just cracks me up!

What is your favorite holiday, and why? Christmas, I love decorating our house, spending time with our friends and family, and celebrating the birth of Christ. Christmas always bring a sense of unity and happiness to me and everyone around me. It's a wonderful feeling :O) What do you dislike about the holidays? All the hype that is put into holiday shopping.  Now that fi and I have stopped buying presents for everyone, I've taken a step back and see how over top I used to get.  You have to out do last years presents and spend more money every year. It get's a little overwhelming.How do you and your FI/DH split your time between families? We spend one holiday either Christmas or Thanksgiving with one of our familes and the other holiday we spend at home together.  Then the following year we'll pick a holiday to spend with the other family and then we'll spend the other holiday at home.  It's a lot more stress free for us and it's seemed to work for the last couple years.What is your favorite Halloween costume? (I need ideas, hehehe!)  Well this year I was debating dressing up as Cleopatra but decided to dress up as a sexy Queen of hearts.  I already had the costume and didn't want to spend more money getting all the accessories for Cleopatra.

What is your favorite holiday, and why? Christmas! Because we all get together, the food, the presents, the kids playing and laughing and everyone seems to be in a good mood. Plus FI proposed Christmas morning :-)What do you dislike about the holidays? The long lines at the mall and the fact that plane tickets get super expensive.How do you and your FI/DH split your time between families? One year we did Thanksgiving with my family and Christmas with his. Then we did all by ourselves. This year we might go to PR for X-mas and we spent labor day with his family. Thanksgiving will be on our own.What is your favorite Halloween costume? The home hade ones. I was Alice in Chains last year (but I had the dress made, not the one they sell) and of course it was Alice in Wonderland wrapped in Chains...I saw and awesome one a few years ago..she was a grape vine...purple leotard and a million purple balloons glued to it...and the hat was the green part of the vine...awesome!

What is your favorite holiday, and why? I absolutely, hands down, LOVE Thanksgiving. I love the family & friends, the food, and did I mention the food? Haha. Thanksgiving is fun x 2 now because FI & I split the day between our two families, each one does Thanksgiving just different & deliciously enough to make it really enjoyable all day.What do you dislike about the holidays? The craziness around them, the fact I can no longer "run to the mall really quickly" because at 9am the parking lot & stores are already insane. I'm also not a fan of Christmas music so that begins to wear on me after a couple weeks, and I always feel like Thanksgiving gets totally jipped & overlooked between Halloween & Christmas! How do you and your FI/DH split your time between families? We split Thanksgiving and Christmas between our families because they only live about 30 minutes apart. Luckily FI's family does holiday meals nice & early, like around 3-4. My family always intends to do holiday meals around 4, but they never actually get on the table until around 6, lol. So we just shuffle between the two :)What is your favorite Halloween costume? (I need ideas, hehehe!) Oi... I don't know how helpful I will be, I'm a horrible Halloween person. I haven't dressed up in years. I'm really into comfortable costumes, like being a nurse.

What is your favorite holiday, and why? I love Christmas/Eve & New Years, but I think my fav is Halloween. I don't know why....I love to put out the fall decos around the house, I love dressing up, I love carving pumpkins and making the outside of the house look spooky for the trick or treaters...What do you dislike about the holidays? For the typically family holidays, I HATE that we have to run all over the place to visit 50 million people. and FMIL is a PITA when it comes to holidays as well!How do you and your FI/DH split your time between families? see previous question...we normally run around everywhere. Which totally blows. the past couple years we've been trying to figure out a system, which I think we have...we now are alternating between his family & my dad's for Thanksgiving, Xmas eve is with my dad, Xmas dinner w/my mom & Xmas evening with his mom. It's hard b/c both of our parents are divorced. Ugh!What is your favorite Halloween costume? I don't have a favorite....this year I'm being a sexy vampire!

What is your favorite holiday, and why? Used to be Christmas because I always went to upstate NY to spend with my extended family.  I don't do this anymore and it wouldn't be the same since lots of them have moved away or don't get along anymore.  So I'll say Easter.  Brunch with mimosas with my family.  Then I'm good and buzzed by the time we make it to his.What do you dislike about the holidays? Splitting time.  See below.How do you and your FI/DH split your time between families? They all live in the same town so we do it all.  Christmas Eve - With my "adopted" family (my bf's fam).  Spend the night at my parents.  Do Christmas morning with them, then FI's Dad's house, then his grandparents and then his Mom's.  It's miserable.  Other holidays are the same.What is your favorite Halloween costume?  Last year I saw a couple dressed as the moscots for two Baltimore area companies.  Boh and the Utz girl.  Very cute.  A Baltimore jewelry store had a billboard with Boh proposing to the Utz girl.[img]http://tinyurl.com/yfhs9oa[/img]

What is your favorite holiday, and why?Christmas, Christmas Christmas - everything about it.  The red starbucks cups, the songs, the feeling of warmth and wonderfulness everywhere you go. The smell of christmas trees - and the lights. Oh how I love love love christmas lights!What do you dislike about the holidays?Not a lot - I even love the crazy mall with all the christmas carols.  Maybe scroogy people who judge me for loving it so much.How do you and your FI/DH split your time between families? we try to alternate year to year for each holiday.What is your favorite Halloween costume?
