Resort Suggestions?

Hi girls! We're just getting started planning for our wedding next November.  We want to get married somewhere in the Caribean, but I'm having the hardest time picking a location much less a resort.  Do you all have any suggestions?          Also, how much are your guests spending for ~ 4 nights per person with flight?  I just want to pick a place that won't be too expensive. Thanks!

Re: Resort Suggestions?

  • We got married at El Dorado Royale in Riviera Maya with 30 friends & relitives, and it was amazing, it was everything we hoped it would be. It was very affordable for our guests and the resort was all inclusive so we did not have to worry about who had to pick up the tab after a round of drinks or a meal. At first we were thinking of St. Lucia but it just was not feasible with the cost of flights. We received great advice from our TA who we found on this board from knottie njswimmer and a few other fellow knotties. When planning and choosing our resort we contacted Nancy from www.myislandgetaways.com . She literally did all the planning and work for us and was a godsend. There are so islands & resorts it very difficult to try and do it alone. Nancy helped us in narrowing down our choices. Check out El Dorado Royale, everyone is still raving about our wedding. Island Getaways did a great job all the way around. GL
  • We're getting married at The Grand Palladium Jamaica.  Our guests are spending anywhere from $1200-1600/couple AI for 4 nights.  Just depends on when they booked their flights.  Some couples have private villas and they spent about $600 more.
  • The DW knottie bio http://www.dwbridesbio.com/location.phpwas a good place when I first started looking.  You can search by location, and then go from there.  Also, look at bestdestinationwedding.com for some feedback of specific resorts.

  • Our guest are staying wed-sun for $830. It's the Sandals resort in Ocho Rios Jamaica and the package includes: flight, hotel, food, drinks, basically all inclusive package. We booked through a travel agent in our town.
  • FunnSun~You are totally right about the El Dorado Royale!  My fiance's brother got married there two year ago and I keep comparing every resort to there.  Of course, we want to do something different, but I thought that resort was perfect and a very reasonable price.  Aahhh...the search continues!
  • We are having the same issues. We wanted to get married in the Bahamas but the hotels that I have been seeing so far only have a rating of 3 stars!! Which is horrible. So I'm still looking for an island...Our wedding isn't until April 2011, so I can't get pricing yet but if I could narrow my options down to a country and a resort I would be extremely happy!
