Re: Something Borrowed Poll

  • Sorry, it's Wednesday! Where do you live?  Baltimore Do you live in the city/suburbs/rural/etc?   City Did you grow up there?   Nope, but not far. How far are you from your parents/family and FI's parents/family?  40 minutes to each sets of parents and FI's extended family (they all live in our home town), my extended family lives in upstate NY Why do you live where you do?  It was cheap enough for me to purchase on my own as a starter home when the market was out of control. Do you plan on living there indefinitely? If not where would you like to move to?  No, to the 'burbs.  Hopefully back to our hometown or another Baltimore suburb. Whats one thing you love about where you live?  I One thing you hate?  Location. Do you rent or own?  Own.Tell us about your home:  1940's 1200 sq. ft rowhouse plus unfinished basement.  It was trashed when I purchased it but we gutted and redid EVERYTHING it's beautful now and just the right size for FI and me.  We'll need something bigger when we decide to TTC though.
  • Where do you live? Orange County, CA Do you live in the city/suburbs/rural/etc? Hmm... interesting question... I've never known how exactly to answer this question. I mean, I live in a city, but it's now like a city-city, so I guess I live in a suburb. Did you grow up there? I've lived in this specific city since I was 18, so I've definitely done a lot of growing up there. I've always lived in So Cal, and in the same general area. How far are you from your parents/family and FI's parents/family? Our new house is like 15 minutes from my parents, and about 25 minutes from FIL's. Why do you live where you do? Well it's an area we both are familiar with, we wanted to stay in OC, and this was the area we could afford to live in. Do you plan on living there indefinitely? If not where would you like to move to? No, we bought a condo so hopefully one day we will buy a "real house". Neither one of us is set on living in SoCal forever either. We would both like to live in Colorado, or I wouldn't mind moving to MA because I have so much family there. Whats one thing you love about where you live? Even our coldest weather doesn't drop below 50 degrees :) One thing you hate? That it's almost Halloween and it was 90 degrees this week!! I hate that we get jipped on Fall, and it takes forever for cold weather to get here. Do you rent or own? Own Tell us about your home: It's a condo, 2b/2b. Small, but perfect for our "first home", especially since we don't plan on having kids (right away or ever?) and we don't plan on staying here very long. It was in pretty bad shape when we bought it, the previous owners were foreclosed on, there were 8 people living there (2 bedrooms remeber?!) and it had been vacant for a while before we got it. It has a 2 car attached garage and a decent sized patio - BONUS! We were adamant that if we bought a condo it had to have an outdoor space and garage. Those two things are huge for resale here. We are getting ready to move in, hopefully this weekend!! We painted & re-carpeted the whole place, painted the kitchen cabinets, got new blinds & window drapery... it's starting to feel like "ours"! :)
  • Where do you live? Bay City MI Do you live in the city/suburbs/rural/etc? City... Did you grow up there? My whole life! I can't wait to move someplace without snow :-) How far are you from your parents/family and FI's parents/family? My mom literally lives 5 blocks away, and my dad lives 10 mins away.  Colin's parents live about 15 minutes away Why do you live where you do? Where I was born and raised Do you plan on living there indefinitely? If not where would you like to move to? DEF not! I am planning to move someplace warm! Plus I hate how close you live to your neighbors, no yard.  I prefer the country living acres of land! Whats one thing you love about where you live? How convenient it is to go anywhere, grocery shopping is literally next door, the mall only 5-15 minutes depending on the mall I go to.  Plus it's our first "home" together.  One thing you hate? Snow.... seriously I hate winter, the cold anything to do with it! Do you rent or own? we rentTell us about your home: We are in a 900 sq ft apartment.  12 other people in our building.  No yard nothing! We have plenty of room for all our electronics and Colin's ridiculous collection of STARWARS! But I would def. prefer a house. We debated on buying one, but I don't want to be in MI much longer so renting will have to do for now.

No, I grew up about an hour away and lived in the OC until we bought this house 1.5 years ago.Distance for family and FI Family? Most of our family lives in Orange County and my mom lives in Davis Ca.Why? We wanted to buy a house with a backyard and at the time we could afford what we wanted in Orange County.  If we had waited just 6 months......Living there Indefinitely?  Where would we like to live?  We planned on buying a bigger house with a bigger yard someday.  It will probably be further out in the country.  One thing  I love? I live in an almost rural area and I love that I feel far away from the rest of the world when I'm home.  And my Koi pond. One thing you hate?  The traffic to get to OC.  I have to go into my OC hotels 3 days a week and I friggen hate the 91 freeway traffic.Rent or Own?  Own.Tell us about your home:  All you need to know about my house is in my blog.  It's a one story house with a wonderful backyard with a kio pond and water fall.  When you step into my backyard you imediately relax.  You can sit on the patio for hours listening to the waterfall while reading and drinking wine.  I feel like this house was made for me and I love it.

  • Where do you live? Juneau, Alaska Do you live in the city/suburbs/rural/etc? Small town Did you grow up there? Yep How far are you from your parents/family and DH's parents/family? My mom lives right down the street, my dad is about 20 mins away, and Tyler's family just moved all the way across the country to PA (they were in WA). Why do you live where you do? I moved back to be closer to my family and for my job. Tyler followed me here. Do you plan on living there indefinitely? If not where would you like to move to? Indefinitely but not permanently. Tyler doesn't like it here, but it's really nice to have family so close. We will probably stay for another few years. I'd like to move somewhere on the west coast...Boise is lovely, OR, MT, CO. Somewhere with a little space and preferrably near a large body of water. Whats one thing you love about where you live? The beauty. The fact that we have mountains and ocean and glaciers all right here. It's also a really safe community and the people here are really friendly. One thing you hate? It rains. Constantly. There's also a pretty high cost of living, and there are very limited choices for shopping (I have to order pretty much everything online and then pay out the ying yang to ship it). Do you rent or own? Own Tell us about your home: We just bought it in January. It's three stories, three bedroom 2.5 bath. Has a lovely view of the water and is in a great neighborhood. Two car garage and a huge mudroom. It's a really good size for us right now, but I can tell we're going to grow out of it quickly...particularly once we get a dog and start having babies. I'd like a larger yard too, ours is pretty teeny. But the lot next to us is empty (for now) so that makes up for the tiny yard.
