Ceremony question

So I am wondering... how do you plan your ceremony? I feel like a terrible Bride because I don't know how to plan my ceremony. Is it like, you just plan how everything will take place (procession & recession?), or am I suppose to plan the vows and everything?? Can we just walk up in front of everyone and say "We Do!" and then walk away??? LOL.I honestly wasn't born with the Bride Gene.

Re: Ceremony question

  • So I did some research online on different Maui wedding coordinators' sites and found some basic ceremonies that are done by their officiants.  I also read the ceremony section of my Knot Guide to Weddings book.I'll probably chat with the WC about it, and especially the officiant.  You probably want to do most of the planning with the officiant to see how the nuts and bolts of the ceremony will go.  If you just need a guide for how ceremonies in general often go, you can probably find that online, or a book at the bookstore.
  • I think it just depends on you and your officiant.  We are just going with his standard non-dominational ceremony.  Other than that, we had to select music for the processional, bridal, "kiss of the couple", and recessional.  That's all for us!
  • Hi have a few ceremonys that other people have emailed to me. I can send them to ya when I get home if you want. Shoot me an email oohlypinon@hotmail.com

  • I would speak with the WC or officiant before you do too much work (unless you want to). Most officiants will give you an order of service with sort of a Chinese menu of options to fill in the blanks. For instance, vows, he said, you can A. write your own, B. Just listen and say "I do", or C. Do the repeat after me.
  • I have a few ceremony examples that a friend sent me. I can also send you a copy of ours. Our WC sent it to us and I personalized it a little. Email me mindijohnson at hotmail dot com if you're interested
  • Hey Sarah :) I agree with pp's, depends on how "custom" you want it. My bio has some vows/readings etc under "ceremony"
  • I can give you our catholic stuff if you want it - we're doing a ceremony outside of mass (so no communion, only one reading) basically short and sweet - the priest said we'd be out in 20 minutes. It's still somewhat religious, but it's got a lot of the same parts - blessing of the rings, vows, oh - and a couple bahamian government requirements.
