Registry question

So FMIL wants to have a bridal shower... So meaning that we have to register for things. Well FI and I have been living together for about 2 years. We don't need much or even have room for much. So what are some items that are worth registering for? TIA!

We had the same issue but I thought about registering as upgrading things we already have.  We registered for new sheets, towel, guest bath accessories, kitchen gadgets, knives etc.

pretty much this. DH and I lived together for 3 years before getting married, but all our stuff was hand me downs. So we registered for nicer stuff that we wouldn't want to spend money on ourselves. I also put a lot of home decor stuff on there b/c I always talk myself out of buying those things.

I'm just like Natalie...FI and I have lived together for 4 years and we have pretty much everything we need. So we're upgrading things...new dishes, towels, toaster, etc. And, just like Natalie, I registered for a bunch of decor stuff because we have a new house and it's so much larger than our old apartment that it's kind of empty and sad I'm also registering for a few appliances that I wouldn't buy myself, like a Spotbot, toaster oven and a hand-held Dyson..... plus a few really nice expensive rugs that I would never buy for myself. I also registered for a few house-related things like new doorknobs and sink faucets

Same a PP's!  I thought the same - and now when I look at all our stuff and realize its all crap, we enjoyed choosing new appliances that would fit our kitchen, I realized we desperately needed new towels and those sorts of things.  I think when you go, you'll be surprised how much you can use.  I also realized that we had no serving ware, and we plan to enterntain now, so we registered for lots of bowls and platters and things

Same here!  I haven't lived at home for 10 years.  We registered for a couple of replacements (ie. new towels and sheets), some kitchen gadgets, a couple of new pans, nice steak knifes, etc.  We didn't need or want much of anything.  I'm an interior designer so decor stuff was out.  People got us some great things including lots of lingerie!  We also had a honeymoon registry.  I know some people don't like it but it was well received with my crowd.

Same as everyone else (we actually did this today!).  We're 34 and 44, have lived together now for 1.5 years and FI has been married before, but we upgraded what we have.  FI has some really nice knives, so we got the same brand of ones we were missing.  We also only have this random collective of flatware and very little in everyday glassware (mostly consists of random stolen pintglasses), so we got stuff that actually matched each other.  We also did new bedding, towels, etc. and like others have said, some appliances we would never buy ourselves - like the $300 Kitchenaid mixer that FI is convinced neither of us will ever use, so I'll have to make some cookies or something asap if we get it!

We did not register for any formal silverware or china since we have some from my grandparents and his grandparents.

We had the same concern, until we started walking through a store and pointed out all of the things taht we would like to have or like to upgrade.  I would suggest going to a Kohls, or Target, etc and just walk around and see what you don't have, but would like to have in your kitchen, bathroon, bedroom, etc. 

We realized that there are a ton of Bobby Flay grilling utensils that FI would love to use.  We haven't lived together, so we wanted to make the bathroon and bedroom "our stuff" instead of his or hers.  We are getting rid of each of our bath mats, etc and picking out stuff together.  Just some thoughts... 

Also, we told our parents places that we would like gift cards from and what "big ticket" items we want to buy.  Several relatives have asked my mother what we really "need" - she has been able to tell them that we want a screen door from Lowes (which has no gift registry anymore!!!).  That way if someone wants to buy a gift card, they know what it will be going towards.
