I love that...

...many of you aren't fans of V-Day! We always get the weirdest looks when people ask if we celebrate and we say no. :)

Re: I love that...

  • one of my good friends is a total sap.  And I say that in the most loving way possible.

Last week she said "I'm trying to think of 14 small things to do for Jake (her H) one each morning up until VD."
I said "I'm sorry, can't help you. We don't celebrate that, or anniversaries."
    "Not even anniversaries?!"
"Nope, FI says dating doesn't count, we'll celebrate when we're married"  and she was totally shocked.  We see no reason in giving gifts for those things, and we go to dinner all the time.  It doesn't bother me because I know he loves me.  He doesn't have to get me a teddy bear, or heart shaped chocolate.  I'd rather the out-of-the-blue "I love you" text.

I think when we have kids we'll (I'll) do a little something for them, and I'll send cards out to family members when I remember- but other than that- no biggie.  (maybe it comes from 8 years of being a florist, the last thing I want to see is a red rose!)

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
  • Yes, I totally love doing stuff for kids on V-Day! I always send my niece and nephew gifts... I think it's a fun holiday when you're a kid :)

  • I was noticing that, too. Thought it was funny. I know what our dating anniversary is because it's by the 4th of July. It's actually our wedding date.
