Vegas!

I need help. We have decided to go to Vegas. I found the Stratosphere hotel to get married at. I need advice. Here is some information about us first. We are flying to Vegas. We have lived together for almost 2 years.

Dress? Pick one out here or rent one there? I have no desire to keep it (My biggest fear is flying with the dress. I've had lost luggage before, and it took a week to have it returned)

Wedding shower? Reception for family and friends (who were unable to attend) when we return?

I want to have lots of pictures and the copy rights. The package I want only offers like 15. Should I hire a photographer? (We are on a budget )

Thanks in advance!!

Re: Vegas!

  • Congrats!  I am not getting married in Vegas, but I will help with what I can!

Dress:  I am no help on the renting one, but I do know that dresses look completely different on than they do in the picture!  The dress I had in mind is completely different than the one I got because it just didn't look like I had envisioned.  Recycledbride.com has a lot of choices of used/pre-owned dresses that are sometimes pretty cheap!

Wedding Shower:  Are you planning to invite your guests to Vegas?  If yes, and someone has offered to throw you a shower, then go for it!  You are not supposes to throw yourself a shower, and you are only supposed to invite people who are also invited to the wedding (this is my understanding).

At Home Reception (AHR):  Go for it!  I am getting married in the Bahamas and having an AHR the following weekend.  Although, you will also need to host some small reception for any guests who go to Vegas as well.  For my AHR, we are just having a big party in the backyard with burgers and beer for all of our friends who cannot make it to the Bahamas - nothing fancy!

Photographer:  You pretty much answered your own question - you want lots of pictures to keep, and your package only offers 15, so you will need to hire a photographer if you want additional photos, unless if your package can be altered to include more pictures.  I'm sure you can shop around for photographers in Vegas and find one that is reasonable!

  • Everything Robin said.

In addition, most brides on this board buy their dress and fly with it. I'm nervous about it too, but everyone has said they carried the dresss on board (definitely don't check it) and the flight attendants were really nice and helpful about finding a place for the dress where it won't get crushed.
