I know it’s cliché but everything. Where to start… Our flights had no interruptions, and all 4 groups got in safely. Even our private transfer was neat. Our group arrived on Sunday and there were 12 of us which made it easy to do. Well the “tour guide” started talking about the island and found out that our resort didn’t have Presidente (beer) in the mini bars. So he had the driver stop at a market and he picked up a few bottles and a bunch of Dixie cups. Everyone on the bus had a few glasses. We were toasting and laughing. Even people who don’t drink went along with it. It was seriously a great start to the week. The resort was even more beautiful than I remembered it. The first couple of days it rained off and on for a while but cleared up within minutes. It was sunny and hot every other minute of each day. One of our groups had arrived before us and was already indulging in just about everything the resort had to offer by the time we arrived. It made it nice because finally there were people other than ourselves raving about it and putting people’s nerves at ease. We met our wedding coordinator, Deyanira, on Monday morning and she was honestly a Godsend. She made everything easy for us. The morning of the wedding was beautiful. The sun was shining and there was a slight breeze which cooled everything down. All day I didn’t care what was happening. I was so happy and relaxed; it made for an awesome wedding. The flowers were delivered on time and were absolutely beautiful. My hair and makeup appointments went well. Although they tried to be too perfect and my head temporarily looked like a helmet and my skin like snow white. But they were both quickly changed as soon as I spoke up. Finally after getting all dolled up I was able to see Eric for the first time for pictures. We set it up to meet on the staircase in the lobby. That moment was the most nervous I felt all day. Eric looked so good in his suit. It was such an awesome feeling seeing him then without anyone there really. We continued taking pictures down the resort to the beach as more and more guests arrived (we had picture times in spurts). By about 5:30 we were completely done and the judge was already there. Well in order to get married legally, we had found out earlier that we couldn’t have written our own ceremony or vows. So we either had to do his or both. Eric and I quickly decided that we would get married twice with everyone there. We walked up to the altar together, no rings, no music, and said “I Do”. Everyone was standing around us in a circle with cameras and laughing with us. Then we kissed and did it all over again. Although our first ceremony was the legal one, the real one was the second one. Everyone took their seats, the music played and our ring bearer and bridal party walked. Both of us were pretty teary eyed through the whole thing. The ceremony turned out beautiful. I officially got my ring and gave Eric his then we kissed for the second time. Afterwards everyone kept telling us how laid back it all was, how emotional they got and how beautiful things turned out. We finished kind of early so we told everyone to change into their dancing shoes and meet us at the reception. When we got there, everything was set up so beautifully. We were announced as husband and wife as we crossed the bridge and we started our first dance. Immediately following were the toasts from the siblings. Eric’s brothers did the cutest toast together about him. It was very moving to hear them speak so highly about him. My brother and sister also did one each. My sisters actually made me cry a little, it was so sweet. Lastly was dinner. It kept coming and coming. Course after course was absolutely delicious. We started with the lobster tower, then the seafood soup, champagne sorbet, lobster and steak for the main course and finally almond and kaluha? cake. And just when everyone was saying how full they were and couldn’t fit anymore in them, we cut our cake. It was so delicious; everyone was able to find room for it. I know this is going to sound weird, but Eric and I were both secretly hoping for rain that day. It wasn’t until they picked up the last dessert plate off the table that it started to pour out of nowhere. Half of us stayed out there under a little ledge watching it, while the other half retreated into the restaurant along with the sound equipment. The rest of the week was a blur. We heard from so many people that a DW was such a great idea and how much fun they had. I’m honestly so glad we did it.
